@holly-wee He stepped down because people wanted Sienna to lead them. Her methods produced results while Ghira got them no where and he saw that despite disagreeing with the method. Ultimately he decided that it was best to leave the white fang in her hands if that's want the faunus wanted.
Well said. Ghira literally had an entire caravan of his people being shot at and was unable to do anything because he was trying to talk them out of attacking while Adam went and retaliated and saved them. He didn’t just step down to step down, he stepped down because his people grew dissatisfied with his methods and Sienna- someone who wasn’t hesitant about using controlled violence in self-defense- took his place. Ghira Belladonna is a great character and a great leader, however I firmly believe that for this racism subplot to be properly handled, we can’t fall into the “the people being oppressed olive branch their way into equal rights while being slaughtered” trope. It has to be more nuanced than that. This story needs its peaceful civil disobedience just as much as it needs its fair dose of controlled violence aimed at the structures of power that support the racism the Faunus experience; first and foremost, the SDC
