The texture of the paper I made makes superfine details impossible, but it loves to take color and the surface lets you imagine little details that emerge naturally which, maybe, is better than forcing the details.
Maybe you can’t expect smoothness. Maybe the texture influences the outcome. What is joy without sorrow? What is perfection without flaw?
It’s Saturday and I’m making paper. Not in the financial sense, that’s absolutely beyond me; but in the crafty ‘I’m going to do it the hard way’ way.
I’d like to make a ton of paper and maybe make some sketchbooks. In the same way a doodle feels more accomplished if you take it a step further (embroidering it somewhere, making it a stamp, printing it in a zine) making your own paper kind of makes whatever you put on it feel more special. Like you worked harder for it. Because you did.
I hope you’re doing something fun and fulfilling this weekend, or something relaxing and rejuvenating, or really whatever u want it’s ur life. I love you
Recently have been making my own paper and making notebooks with it

Sir Alexander (Mac) and Lady Rachel MacRobert
Alexander MacRobert was born in Aberdeen in 1854. Papermaking took place in many parts of the country where there was a plentiful supply of water, but also of waste cotton. One such was Aberdeen. There were also many textile mills there: the Crombie Mills which exported fine tweeds and overcoats and Hadden & Co who were early users of steam driven engines for the wool trade, to name but two.…
ya girl learned how to make paper!! i took a two-day class this past weekend and picked them up today; this is the final result :)
after we were done couching all of our sheets, the instructor took them to her shop where she has a hydraulic press and a dry box, so they're nice and flat too! not sure i'll be able to replicate that at home lol but i can't wait to make more
