February productivity challenge
My first ever challenge since i’ve been one of the lurker in the studyblr community.
I was thinking of sharing some of Malay Aesthetics on my studyblr whilst participating in this challenge.
So today’s Estetika Melayu (Malay’s aesthetics) is the Malay Pantun. It is one of the notable classical Malay literature that has been around the Malay society which has been used as a form of communication to convey advice and messages.
Pantun is a terse quatrain with alternate rhymes, composed of the simplest words, with its two couplets often apparently disconnected. It has a rhythm of its own, deeply ingrained in ordinary speech and belongs to all which can make everyone a ‘pemantun’.
Pisang emas di bawa belayar,
Masak sebiji di dalam peti.
Hutang emas boleh dibayar,
With dates of gold we sail away,
A ripe one on a chest we save.
Our debts of gold we can repay,
A debt of heart we take to the grave.
These days we would used the Pantun during the ‘merisik’ custom which is when the groom -to-be’s family meeting the bride-to-be’s family to set the date, dowry and so forth.
Day 1 : What’s your favourite podcast?
I’m an active follower to Malam Seram (Horror night in Malay) podcast since i’m a huge horror buff especially Asian horror movies/story/folklore etc.
On another note, I’ve been trying to listen to some French podcasts to improve my French listening skill but i haven’t found any that i really felt invested to.
I’m open to any French podcast suggestions.
