From the Archives: "It's all so wonderful..." Julie Andrews at 16
This charming Daily Herald feature from 11 December 1951 offers a tantalising glimpse of the early stardom of Julie Andrews. Interviewed during rehearsals for Aladdin at the London Casino, it captures the 16-year-old performer at a moment when everything seemed possible.
The accompanying publicity photographs, taken by a Daily Herald staff photographer for the same press campaign, show exactly what the reporter saw that day—a young performer with all the warmth, joy and natural charm that would soon make her an international star.
