Panama's flag was designed by Manuel E. Amador, the first president from Panama, and sewn by his wife, María Ossa de Amador.
The flag consists of four quarters of colors: white, red, and blue.
The white symbolizes the peace achieved through the peaceful union of the historical parties, with the Liberal party represented by red and the Conservative party represented by blue.
The upper-left white quarter features a blue star, representing the purity and honesty of the nation, and the lower-right white quarter has a red star, symbolizing authority and law.
