hey so this is like. a weird question probably but im curious. i've used "pansexual" as my label for literally years and i don't at all understand why it seems to be a hated label? obviously, it's not any better than being bi. bi and pan have pretty much the same meaning. so i was just wondering if you could maybe explain it? i know some people use pan to mean like, men & women & trans people, which is super gross, but is that all it is?
the thing is you can’t keep the pan label around because it will always be the question of “why not bi?”. you will always have to answer why you chose the label pan over bi when they mean literally the exact same thing. ppl attracted to all genders are bisexual. so even if ppl don’t ask you outright, they will ask themselves like ‘oh wait isn’t that what bi means..?’ so that’s why i say pansexual is a biphobic term. it’s existance does nothing but undermine bisexuality and make it out like a lesser thing to be no matter how you slice it. ppl who aren’t familiar with the term who do their own research will probably hear what everyone else has, that pan means all and bi means two, so that plants the seed of bisexuality being transphobic, whether it was your words that said that or not.
