"Do you trust me?" [Alfred to Bri or Rachel]
It isn't often Bruce's butler appeared at the courthouse. Even rarer still, were the instances when he reached for her arm to escort her away from a bustling news conference. Her expression tightened, warring between proper decorum and the bubbling up of adrenaline.
If Alfred is here, if he's asking her to trust him, than something is sorely wrong given Alfred practically helped RAISE her. With a grim nod, she affirms that she does. "Something--" perhaps, the haste in which her corrals her, "tells me that I'm in danger. Or am I mistaken?"
i'll stay until you fall asleep. [Alfred to Vivian]
"You do realize I'm an adult now, right?" Vivian asked, managing a wry smile despite the sharp throb in her side. Even after months back in the Manor—a place she hadn't truly lived in since returning from Oxford and setting up her own life—Alfred's instinct to coddle her was immediate and unwavering. She shifted slightly on the edge of the plush sofa, the movement pulling the stitches beneath the freshly applied bandages. Of course he was hovering; a Nightshade injury always brought out the most fiercely protective side of the man who was, to her, a father figure. She reached out, grasping his hand as he adjusted a pillow behind her back, her expression softening. "I'm fine, Alfred. You don't have to sit a vigil."
how long has it been? [Al to Bri]
Inhales are meant to land gently, not to feel like having your lungs crushed with a brick. Yet, that is exactly how this one felt. The crush of the impact draws with it an agonized glance. Guilt is swallowed down uneasily. The flute ensnared by her fingers does little to conceal her nervous tremble. To mask the raw brunt of her emotions, she takes a swallow of wine. "Too long. Wouldn't you say?" She finally answers.
"This time, Alfred, I am home to stay." The brunette attempts to eagerly assure her butler. "That is, if you'd still like me to--" She knows her departure Bhutan had extended far, far longer than she ever anticipated. Lord knows she isn't about to tell her beloved caregiver that she was in prison.
"So, what did I miss?" Wayne softly questions.
“You deserve to feel safe. And happy.” [Matthew for Anne]
How DEEP is the ache emanating from her fathoms of chest? Who knew a heart so fractured could continue to beat, thunderous, agonizing beats? Anne's scarlet tinted eyes attempt to bat away the tears. "Oh, Matthew! I've well and truly ruined it!! There's no going back!" The words bring a fresh wellspring of tears from the copper-haired imp. "He's marrying another!!" Defeat feels like a cloak encompassing her.
"Why can't Gil just be SENSIBLE instead of acting like some sentimental school boy?!! He is my happiness, and he's walking away - forever. He promised to wait-" The worst part is, Anne doesn't know Gil is dying.

"Oh, Matthew!! It was terrible!!!" Anne wails. "He called me Carrots!!! CARROTS!!! There's NOTHING half as terrible in the world that he could have called me!!" Just thinking about it brought pinpricks of tears back to her eyes. Anne knows she has a WICKED temper. Cracking her slate over Blythe's head had only proven she had no more control of it than she would a November storm.

Brianna, if any of her enemies struck down Alfred because of her actions.
‘ i’ll be right here. don’t worry. ’ (Bri from Martha in the au I mentioned where she survived but was paralyzed)
Heavy, weighted like a millstone is heart, which sinks like a twenty thousand ton bolder into the soles of her shoes. Eyes of burnt-umber, cresting with an ocean of tears avert. Weakness, vulnerability is not something she bears with pride. Guilt wracks Bri's every waking moment of consciousness. It plagues her, like her FEAR of bats.
It takes all of young Bri's strength to drag in her next, tremulous inhale. Fragile is the glance that returns to her mother. Uneasily she swallows another fit of anguish, attempting to be BRAVE for her mother's sake; in spite of feeling her resolve crumbling. "Don't you blame me? It-- it was all my fault." She offers in a weak, quivering voice. One that almost didn't sound at all like her own.
"It's my fault you'll never walk again-- and that Dad isn't here."
