I love making watercolor paint, and I would love to do it more. But unfortunately I have a case of Chronically Messy Project Doer disease and everything ends up coated in pigment dust despite my best attempts. Which means it has to be an outside project. Which also means there can't be even a little wind.

Result of a little over two months of paint making!
I used all the binder I made (recipe below) with most of the pigments I own. A few succesfull attempts at granulating watercolours were madeπ¨β¨
Watercolor binder:
β«οΈ8 parts distilled water
β«οΈ4 parts powdered gum arabic (note that the liquid version would require different amounts of gum and water!)
β«οΈ1 part linden or acacia (robinia) honey (they are the lightest, it won't interfere with the color)
β«οΈ1 part glycerine
+ preservative: few drops of clove essential oil or for better results, sodium benzoate.
Mix gum arabic in warmed water. When it dissolves, add the rest of ingredients and stir until it mixes well together. Let it sit for about 24 hours, store in the fridge.
I used tablespoons and stored it in a small jar. The amount was enough to fill ~72 half pans or 36 full pans.
liked a color/pigment so much I made a swatch just so I could make a post about it
such a pretty brown. reminds me of a burnt sienna mixed with a caput mortem. it is two toned (warm brown with a dark violet ish granulation) and is only one pigment. I love you iron oxides
