The long-lived Paeonia lactiflora (Chinese peony) is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial. There are many cultivars including flowers that are singles and doubles, with shades of red, pink, white and cream. These plants require a moist but well-drained soil in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade.
