When jumping into this soap-making venture over a year ago, one goal was to decrease our use of plastics and packaging. We buy in bulk so as to minimize the number of plastic and glass bottles and reduce shipping and shopping trips, also we seek to buy from small, reputable companies that give back to our society.
These hair bars are not soap, they have not completed the saponification process which requires the mixture of Sodium Hydroxide with a liquid, producing the chemical reaction that after curing, gives us “soap”. This “shampoo” is a mild and lathery bar that produces beautiful suds in the hair, to be followed with your favorite conditioner.
Just FYI - this bar is not recommended for color-treated hair, those types of shampoos have a lot more chemicals to protect the color.
Each 3oz bar will last a few months or so, depending on how often you use it, but please ensure it is dry between uses, to prolong its precious little life.
To use: (1) Either lather wet bar in hands & apply suds to wet hair or (2) Starting at the crown, massage the bar down your hair in several sections, making little ‘hand’ waves so as to stir up suds. Ensure hair is full of lather. Rinse. Repeat. Follow up with your favorite hair conditioner.
