I saw some of your tags and I was wondering what the difference is between community and communal attraction? I looked it up, but the posts I saw used them as synonyms, and the base words are also quite similar.
We& experience both community and communal attraction prominently so I'll explain them with input from our& own experiences. Using this post for community attraction (link). Communal attraction is also referred to as pack attraction, and I will be calling it pack attraction in this ask for clarity; I'm using this pack attraction definition (link). I also want to make clear that attraction experiences are varied and personal and the lines between them are malleable; your mileage may vary
One of the most significant differences between community and pack attraction is the degree of 'closeness' associated with each. Pack attraction involves a desire for emotional attachment, emotional intimacy, and regular close proximity. Community attraction has far less emphasis on and may not at all involve elements of emotional intimacy or close proximity
Both involve desiring to form/be in a group with the subject of attraction, a sense of familiarity with the subject of attraction, and some degree of care about and/or for one another
Community attraction involves sharing some sort of similarity with the subject of attraction (such as interest, religion, ideology, and so on) that pack does not necessarily. Community attraction involves a sense of fellowship with one another
Pack attraction has greater ties to alterhumanity and animality than community attraction does. Pack attraction is more likely to involve sharing a home than community attraction. Things such as having legal stewardship over someone else, sharing assets, and being legally responsible for one another are more likely to be found in a pack relationship than a community relationship
We also have an ask we answered about acommunity vs acommunal here (link), but I honestly don't agree entirely with it. Mind you, it was written before there was a more formalized definition of community attraction. I think our& understanding of community attraction is more solid now than it was when we answered that other ask
