Looking at the address on the small screen of her cell phone, Nine smirked. She hadn't done something like this in a long time and she was glad to be back on the horse. Quick to strip herself of her clothes, she made her way to her "little black drawers", a small dresser hidden in the back of her closet for such occasions. She rifled carefully through the drawers of lingerie, trying to fond the perfect set for such a night. When she finally settled on a red laced number, she slipped herself into it, covering the rest of her body, barely, by her coat. The jacket was just enough to cover her lack of clothing, showing off her legs and making her look tanner than she really was. It gave her a set of curves that Kate Upton would be jealous of and as she gave herself a once over in the mirror, she remembered just why it was her favorite.Â
Nine stepped into a pair of matching heels, ones that she swore she'd only wear to weddings or large galas, and grabbed her few necessities before heading for the door. She may love her cut-offs and her beat up KISS t-shirt, but she's a sucker for good underwear and any opportunity to show it off, she'd gladly take. Her old car roared to life with her touch, backing it out of the driveway and toward the address given to her by the dark haired male. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't already turned on. After about ten or so minutes, Nine parked on the street, climbing out of her old Camaro and to the front door of Graham's place. She knocked three times, shaking her hair over her shoulders and opening her coat while she waited.Â
Tucking her cell into her pocket, a smile across her face, Ruby walked across the carpark and into the Inn, stepping quietly so not to wake Granny. The older woman had insisted on foregoing her medicine for some recipe of Granny Fa's, and though she hadn't taken a turn yet, she could only worry, knowing how ill she could get. Ruby had been so stressed she barely had a moment to herself, sleep hard to come by, a moment to think even rarer, and she knew what caused it. Granny. The Diner. The Wolf. Graham. The entire curse break should have been something she was looking forward to, but lately it had become hard to see any light in such an awful situation. Luckily, she had Graham to sort that right out.
After collecting two sleeping bags, chocolates and marshmallows for s'mores, and a lighter in case her old touch with a flint wasn't quite the same, the brunette changed into more agreeable clothes, and met the patrol car out the front of the diner. It still smelled the same, no matter how many air fresheners Graham bought. Stale coffee and old carpet, which didn't make a dent on her enhanced senses, considering he always smelled delicious. They peeled out of the driveway, heading straight for the deepest part of the woods, when Ruby realised something. "You know, this is our first date?" She leaned over the console and kissed Graham's whiskery cheek, sitting back before the Sheriff called her out. She hadn't felt this happy in days. "Took you long enough."
In the Enchanted Forest, Red could stare at the moon for hours. When it was waning, the way it was now, a heaven sent blessing for the town of Storybrooke, her skin tingled with the remnants of her Wolfstime. Not tonight though, and she wondered if maybe the wolf didn't make it past the curse. That was a pipe dream though, because the season the memories returned to her, so did the senses, the strength, the speed. She knew fighting it was fruitless, but maybe if she had her cloak that Wolfstime could be easier. No one had seen it though, and she had less than 3 weeks to find it, or get out of town. She couldn't find Graham either. What kind of wolf was she, if she couldn't find her clothes or her... her Huntsman?
While everyone was celebrating inside, Ruby sat on the steps of the diner, quietly pushing about her dinner. She had no appetite to celebrate, no will to sit with her long-lost friends and discuss all they would do, not without him. She did have a sinking suspicion exactly where he was and what she could make him do, and that thought drove away her appetite completely. Ruby heard him before she saw him, the familiar dragging of his heels and slow gait somewhat permanent in her memories. He appeared under the gates with his hands shoved into pockets, a beaten look on his face, and she moved so fast into his arms she was practically a blur. Her arms around Graham's neck, her whole body shaking so much, Ruby felt the tears begin. "I'm so sorry." She murmured, sobs choking her voice. He was hollow inside, and there wasn't anything she could do to fix him.
It had only been a few days back at the inn, back with her family and the one she was certain she would always love. Granny even tucked her in one night, with a glass of milk like she used to, once upon a time. She had begun a routine while working with Regina, of waking up early, going for a run, getting herself ready for the mental torment for the day. But working at the diner wasn't painful anymore; it was her home, her safe place. Ruby looked forward to walking into work every morning, instead of dreading it. Even the daunting prospect of running into Graham was minuscule when she could be sure the rush of the morning would distract her from her sore heart.
Giving up the shorts and midriff tops for something a little more comfortable, Ruby woke later in the morning than she usually did, opting to skip her usual run for a sleep in, and spent a few moments choosing looked nicest. She was standing at her desk, pen and paper in hand with no clue what she could write, when she knew she was better with verbal words not traced ones. She owed Graham an apology, but just didn't have the guts to do it to his face. She needed-- needed to have him back, even if they just brushed this all under the rug and forgot about it. Ruby knew that he wouldn't have done anything to intentionally hurt her, and her reaction was undeserved. Brushing this aside would only make it grow into something she didn't ever want. There was no room for more animosity between them; they were both at fault, and she didn't want to be the last person to apologise. Scribbling a time and her name on the diner's stationery, she gathered her things and left her room without a backward glance.
Graham kept a room on the other end of the inn, closest to the front entry, where Granny begrudgingly had to insist he stopped tracking mud through her home. Ruby folded the note, and kneeled down to slip it beneath his door, when it flew open. She felt her heart leap up her throat as he watched her, his hair still slightly damp from his shower. Scrambling to her feet, Ruby held out the note and pushed it into his hand, still lost for words. "I-I'm working the closing shift tonight. If you want to talk, that is. Um--" She looked away, clasped her jacket in her folded arms, wondering what he must have thought. Her sudden turnaround might have been surprising, but Graham knew Ruby treasured friendship as much as family. She couldn't exactly tell him that she missed him, even if they had messed up so badly. She was fiddling with the sleeve of her shirt when she decided to go, lest the awkward silence become comfortable. "Have a nice morning." Her heart still lodged in her throat, she gave her friend a small smile and went to the stairs. That wasn't so difficult, was it?

[Ruby heard the car roll up before she saw it, and quickened her pace, her arms folded across her chest to fight off the cold. She didn't want to talk to Graham, didn't want him to see her like this, and definitely didn't want him to know how upset she was. It was childish and embarrassing, and for the first time in weeks she wished she heeded her Granny's advice.] Go away.
Regina Mills: After a bit of planning and a lot of thought, Regina had figured out quite a few things that needed to be done in order to regain her control. She needed it back and for now, the slight advantage was in her court. The mayor had been almost surprised that Graham had agreed to a meeting, made specifically for them and although it was almost planned, it didn't mean that any of the passion was gone. That almost surprised her though, considering their situation was almost as bad as Hook's. Their kisses were warm and savory and the taste of the sheriff's skin was almost as good as ever for her. In the midst of their time together, footsteps came through the entrance of the house, echoing into Regina's ears. She paused, placing a hand on his chest, looking toward the door. "Graham, did you hear something?" she asked calmly.
Graham: Graham would have been a fool not to hear the clacking of heels against hardwood floors that echoed through the mansion sized home. Regina had been pretty good about planning their meetings to avoid any interruptions from Henry, or any other townsfolk. This time didn’t seem to be the case. He tilted his head to better hear any more sounds that may come from the entrance area, hoping that it was just a figment of their imaginations. If this encounter was going to go anything like the previous ones had, the two weren’t anywhere near done for the night. “I think so,” he whispered between planting kisses along her neckline. “It… could have just been the floors creaking, though.”
Regina Mills: The woman couldn't help but lean into him as he kissed her, wanting the bliss to continue on. She had always enjoyed Graham's company, much more than most. They just had some undeniable connection that was filled with secrets and sideways glances. It was more than enough for Regina. It was more than enough to feel like she had someone on her side, at least while he was in her bedroom. She felt in control and it was a great feeling. Regina caught Graham's lips on her own, feeling her stomach flop from within. "You-- Can you check it? Just in case?" Regina trailed her teeth over his lip before letting it go and smiling. "We have all night, Sheriff," she said playfully.
Graham: An impatient sigh escaped Graham’s lips as he pulled away from the woman. He had made the subconscious decision to obey Regina in the same manner he had in the past. “Alright,” he murmured as he stumbled across the room in search of his pants. They had been kicked to the corner at some point during their encounter, and his shirt was handing off the side of the bed. “I’ll be right back.” As he stepped out of the room, the sheriff struggled to buckle his pants with his wrinkled shirt hanging off his shoulder. The source of the noise met him at the staircase, where he stood wide eyed and confused. Ruby. Why was she here? Hadn’t Regina arranged things so that his friend wasn’t going to be anywhere in sight? “Uh,” he stammered. “Ruby. What are you doing here?
Regina Mills: At the sound of Graham's voice say Ruby, Regina knew that her plan had worked. She hadn't really asked Ruby to come over. She had just merely given her a longer task that would take some time and asked her to make sure it was done that night. It was a complete 'mistake' and a brilliant one at that. Regina made sure her undergarments were on, putting them on quickly and wrapping a silky robe around her bare skin before making her way behind Graham. She peeked around his shoulder, touching his chest with her perfectly manicured hands. "Ruby? What on Earth...?" she stood appalled. She tried to fix her hair back into position but to little avail. From this view, she knew that Ruby could see the red lipstick that marked Graham's face and chest and it took all Regina could not to grin. Instead, her face was cold and worried.
Ruby: What felt like months of painful work was merely two measly weeks of petty jobs assigned by an almost vindictive boss. She had slept what felt like all weekend, but even then she was completely and utterly exhausted when Monday arrived. And now here she was, at almost nine at night, with an armful of dry cleaning, a box that weigh a ton beneath the other, and a binder full of ordinances and other nonsense slung over her shoulder. With the key Regina had given her, Ruby slipped into the mansion, intent on putting away the laundry and paperwork, and going straight home. But the brand new shoes she had bought, and not quite broken in, had made a clamour upon the marble floor, and she winced with each step. Ruby hung the dry cleaning in the closet, and walked through the parlour to lay the files on the table, when the familiar pad of footsteps rang down the staircase. She wasn't expecting that voice, never in a million years. It was Graham, half dressed, his hair tousled in a perfect mess, and red lipstick across his mouth. If her stomach could fall out of her ass, and her heart could jump up her throat, they would have. She was in physical pain and it scared her almost as much as the idea of her boss fucking her best friend. Of course he never wanted her. He deserved someone as powerful as Regina. Biting the inside of her mouth, Ruby shook her head and turned to leave when the mayor herself emerged from her room, looking equally as... amorous. "S-sorry. I know I was meant to have them in by six, but there was a problem with the printer, and I know you needed the ordinances by morning." Her voice broke then, and any façade of being remotely okay with this situation fell away. She felt her eyes water, and looked away from the pair lest they saw her broken heart for all it was. "Do you need anything else?"
Grrrraham: Graham remained standing at the top of the staircase, completely unable to do anything to prevent the chain of events from playing out. It was only a few moments before Regina had emerged from the bedroom, covered up in a silk robe. He could tell it was one of her favorites just by the smooth feeling of it against his back. Judging by the way the madame mayor reacted to Ruby’s presence, she wasn’t aware that the woman would have been coming around. There was a weak thought that this might have been all orchestrated, but it was tossed to the rubbish pile quickly. “I…” He tried to speak up in an attempt to cut the awkwardness between the three people, but couldn’t form a coherent sentence to save his life. The sheriff was quick to realize that he was also standing there, half-dressed and sweaty from his time spent with his “lover”. “If you’ll excuse me,” he finally managed to speak up and tried to retreat to the back room. It was obvious that his friend had been upset over the discovery of the affair, but the only thing that crossed his mind was how embarrassing this all was. Not to mention the fact that the thought of the relationship getting to the public could potentially hurt polished reputations.
Regina Mills: The look on Regina's face was that of worry. She looked between the two and couldn't believe her eyes. Everything was unfolding almost as if she planned it herself-- although, she had. It was almost funny, although she knew that she couldn't let any of it get out of the building and she knew that there was no place for this in her professional image. Quickly, Regina watched as Graham retreated while she continued down the stairs. She grabbed the files from the table and looked at Ruby with concern. "I'm sorry-- you had to find out something like this. But please, be reminded of the confidentiality agreement you signed at the beginning of your employment. I-- I wouldn't want this to effect my political standings or Graham's," she whispered with a polite smile. "And thank you, Ruby. That will be all," she said with another mocking smile. Regina turned her back on Ruby and made her way back to the spot where she had been standing with Graham but quickly surpassed it, returning to her bedroom. As soon as she was in there, she shut the door behind her. "I- I hadn't known she would come tonight. I thought she would come early tomorrow..." she said sweetly, placing her hands on Graham's shoulders.
Ruby: As Regina stepped down the staircase, Ruby had to hold her breath, her ink-stained fingers twined behind her back. Perhaps if she dug her fingernails in hard enough, pressed onto the worn skin of her palms, then she could forget exactly what had happened before her very eyes. "N-no, Madame Mayor, it is my fault. I'd never--" She swallowed harshly. If they had been doing this for long, if they had been... Did he love her? "I'd never tell anyone, you have my word." Maybe she had tried to hide her anger, because it was something Granny had taught her to be uncouth and unnecessary. But it was barely veiled with forced politeness and the fact that she felt like she was going to be sick. Ruby left then, before Regina saw her shaking bottom lip and shaking fists, and stalked her way out of the mansion, down the pathway, and onto the street, where she finally took a deep breath. She smelled like Graham too, like the forest and the station, and with that memory her stomach rolled over, tears pricked her eyes, and she forced herself to breathe normally. It had been a pipe dream, she recalled walking down main street, that he'd ever desire her like that. She hated Regina's tacky red lipstick, she hated Regina's ugly obscene house, she hated Regina's entire facade of pretending that she hadn't set thing up intentionally. None of this hate hid the uneven beats of her broken heart, and bitterly she wiped away ruined mascara, took a deep breath, and continued home.
Graham: Once Graham was behind closed doors, he wandered around the bedroom to collect the clothes that had been tossed around. The mood had been ruined by the encounter with Ruby, and he felt the need to go home. He was straightening his tie when Regina slipped back into the room and tried to explain the situation. It was the feeling of her hands upon his shoulders that caused him to step away, grab his belt and glance to the door. “It’s alright, Regina,” he sighed. “I’ve really got to go home now. We’re still working on the case with Kathryn, and I realized I’ve made plans to meet Emma in the morning.”
Regina Mills: Regina gawked in disbelief, unable to fully comprehend what the man was saying. He was leaving her. That wasn't something that was done. How could he really think that it was an okay thing to do? It wasn't. Regina Mills was the one that dismissed them, not the other way around. She stared a bit harsher than intended before walking away from Graham. Anger-- it was how she had dealt with her feelings being hurt. It was the exact wrong emotion and yet, she continued. "Fine," she huffed, her eyes stinging from her attempt to hold back the tears. It wasn't that she wanted to cry to make him feel bad but really, she couldn't control it. Just like she had no control on anything else, either.
Graham: Graham didn't pay much mind to the woman's reaction, but instead darted for the door. The mood had been soured beyond a point where it could be salvaged, making it the first of their encounters to end up in such a way. It was a new feeling. "I'll see you in the morning, Regina," he murmured as he slipped through the door, slipped on his leather jacket and headed down the stairwell. In truth, he really did have to return to the police station in the morning to aide in the case of finding the missing Kathryn Nolan. It was obvious that the people of Storybrooke were getting more and more on edge as the days passed by, and sitting around wasn't going to help the situation very much.
The topic of Mr. Gold wasn’t something you would imagine having while sharing a dance with someone very special to you. In fact, he might have even been considered a turn off for quite a number of people, especially with his greedy habits. While Graham didn’t pay the man directly for his room at the Inn, he knew that Granny and Ruby were forced to suffer through interacting with him on a monthly basis. “Alright,” he agreed on the lighter fluid. “After that, we’ll make sure no animals in Storybrooke ever have to become a piece of clothing again. We’ll start a campaign!” It sounded like a joke, but could have very well happened. Noticing that Miner’s Day changed the mood quite a bit, the sheriff mentally kicked himself for even mentioning it. “But, I do. Maybe me being there would have changed things?” The thought had crossed his mind numerous times in the last few weeks. He offered another smile, but this time it was slightly weaker. “As for anything interesting? Nah. Nothing worth putting on the badge for the night."
Ruby grimaced, and shook her head. "Only if you don't start burning other clothes. Not your leather jacket. Or my boots. We should probably set our priorities straight before we begin burning people's things." She joked, and noticed as a few people began to leave. She could have danced all night if Graham wanted her too, but knew it must have been getting late. In Storybrooke, late meant 8pm, so she couldn't exactly have been surprised when some of the older citizens began saying their goodbyes. Instead the music picked up a little, and she smiled again as they moved faster in time. "Like what? Having our Sheriff stuck in a hole?" She shook her head, and turned when the music prompted her to, almost crashing against his chest as she returned. "It wasn't very exciting down there. No ghosts, no gremlins, no goblins. You didn't miss a thing." She had almost forgotten her panic attack, but remembering it now wasn't as bad as she thought it might have been. If he had have been there to see that, she wouldn't have lived it down. "You missed the line of boys waiting for a dance with yours truly. You're quite lucky, you know." She teased, and prodded his shoulder gently.
