Ava smiled down at the screen of her cell phone after receiving the last text from Todd. She had a lot on her mind since the day he left in North Carolina and now knowing that he was in the hospital because of an overdose didn't ease her nerves in the least - especially since she felt extremely guilty about the situation. She knew she didn't force him to take the pills but it didn't help that she was so mean to him beforehand when he was trying to explain himself. She forced the thoughts out of her mind as she swung her legs over her bed and pressed her feet to the cold hard wooden floor. She breathed a sigh of relief that he was okay and that he had promised that he'd never touch drugs again. She really wanted to trust him but she still worried that he'd take the turn back down the wrong path.
She opened up her closet and pulled out a pair of denim shorts and a pale blue tank top. She threw her hair up into a tight ponytail as she walked into the next room to see that Carter was still fast asleep and a large grin spread across her lips as she bent down to kiss his forehead and then moved back out to the living room where she turned on the television and waited for Todd to arrive.

Buying a small blonde stranger coffee after - apparently - destroying her on the sidewalk had not exactly been Jackson's top priority for the evening, but things rarely went according to plan for the junior. Lottie was a total sweetheart, anyway, so it wasn't the sharing that bothered him - just that every poor attempt at a joke he made had the potential to throw the poor girl into flustered frenzy. Jackson shot her a glance as he waited for the barista to hand them their iced drinks, cracking a bit of a goofy smile for sheer unfamiliarity's sake. Classes hadn't even started yet, so at least one person who trusted him enough to hang around after a literal (well, not really, but close enough to a) trainwreck was a definite good sign.
"Charlotte? Jackson?" He nodded ambiguously at the two names, reaching across the counter and grabbing the drinks with both hands. He turned and handed Lottie the one in his left, then led the way out of the shop, somehow already a third of the way through the coffee by the time the bell jingled behind them and glass door quietly slipped shut. He'd missed dinner, after all. That was why he was out wandering alone in the first place; despite all that's said about teenaged boys and kitchens, he couldn't find his way to one and was actually starving. And practice was hard. Not much harder than practice had been back home, even with Amber's fierce competition, but with the stark difference between being a scholarship kid and a seventeen-year-old orphan hanging over his head, he'd learned to play as hard as possible.
He grinned at the girl beside him, motioning vaguely in the direction of the school, which was just a short distance away. "So, we're heading back," he said, gesturing to her, " and I'm still thinking about your apology chart, Hale. We gotta break that nasty habit of yours somehow and I think a guilt trip in the form of a poster-sized array of x's might just be your cure." Jackson bit his lip, pausing for thought and to take another sip as they walked on. "I know you said it'd have to be wall-sized, but I've got some faith that you might quit the 's' word sometime before you reach the dependency stage."
Who: Tyler and Lily
When: February 21st
Where: Lily's house
Additional comments: As the title suggest, there's cupcakes and cuddling. And kissing and general cuteness.
Lily was, quite honestly, very excited for the promise of cuddling in exchange for baking some cupcakes. It was the perfect trade, in her mind at least, and she found herself humming around the kitchen with Ella perched very carefully on the counter, licking a wooden spoon with icing on it. As if the child needed any more sugar in her life, but it was alright - the little girl would be just fine. Besides, no amount of sugar could stop her from the nap that she would be taking, because the toddler was honestly like clockwork most of the time, never straying too far from her self appointed schedule. It was nice for Lily, especially on a day like today when she'd be getting her own cuddling in during then, where she would actually get to be the little spoon for once, something she hadn't experienced in over two years. As the two finished up icing the cupcakes, which were flavored both chocolate and vanilla with quite a few variations of icing flavors, due to Lily not exactly knowing that Tyler's favorites were, they made their way upstairs to get the toddler ready for her nap.
Tyler habitually ran a hand through his hair as he arrived to the Waters residence. It was a house in the suburbs, much like the one he got except there's was bigger as they had a family. Singles usually lived in apartments downtown, but since Tyler was an Official, he was moved to a single family home in the suburbs. It was smaller, but still much too big for only him. He wasn't one for silence and usually had the radio or TV on as he hated the emptiness of his home. He walked up the familiar path of their home and gave a couple knocks as he waited to be let in. He'd always thought his friend's little sister to be very pretty, but she was way out of his league. That, and Alex had a mean bitch face.
Lily had just finished getting Ella down for her nap, complete with singing a lullaby which, demanded by the toddler, was a song from her favorite band "a-decshon". How a toddler seemed to always know when a One Direction song was on, whether she had heard it before or not, was way beyond Lily's ability to comprehend, so instead she just went along with it and allowed Ella to indulge in her little whims, including singing The Story of My Life to her to get her to fall asleep. As Lily made her way back down the stairs, she heard the knocks on the door and knew immediately that it was Tyler since she wasn't expecting anyone else to show up, unless it was Alex's 'friend' there or something. But when Lily opened the door, she wasn't surprised at all to see Tyler standing at the other side. "Hey, Tyler," she said with a grin. "You have perfect timing, Elle Belle just fell asleep, and you have an array of cupcakes waiting for you," she said, stepping out of the way for him.
Tyler put on his best smile, which was probably a goofy grin because Tyler was an over sized kid at all times. "Hey, Lily." He was glad to see her grin and relaxed slightly. Tyler usually towered over everyone, mostly girls. Even though Lily was definitely of a height that would be considered tall for a female, he was still about a foot taller than her, if not more. "Aw, did she tire herself out helping you make the cupcakes?" He asked, stepping into the home with a warm smile. He always liked their house. It was so /lived/ in and had a sense of warmth that only a family could bring. "I'm telling you now, I'm the cookie monster of cupcakes. You can call me the cupcake monster." He grinned.
Lily nodded as she closed the door behind Tyler. "You can say that. She didn't help too much this time rather than sit on the counter with a spoonful of icing, but somehow she was still ready for a nap," she said with a laugh, shaking her head at her daughter's antics. It was nice being able to talk to Tyler and not have to hide that Ella was hers - he already knew, somehow or another, whether he had figured it out or Alex had told him. Either way, she didn't mind, and honestly only made her like his company even more since she had no secrets. "Well, come this way and you can check out your cupcake buffet," she said, leading him to the kitchen where the cupcakes were sorted by flavor, and then flavor of ice cream. "I didn't know what you liked so... I went sort of crazy," she said with a bit of a nervous laugh. She certainly found herself trying to impress Tyler, that was for sure.
Tyler laughed, "Man, what a tough life she lives. Licking icing from spoons sounds like a miserable job." He teased. "Cupcake buffet? I think I just fell in love." He grinned happily, following her to the kitchen. The smell of baked goods hit his nostrils and he inhaled dreamily before his eyes widened as there was, in fact, a cupcake buffet on the kitchen counter. "Oh, I like everything. You really did..." He was in awe of the cupcakes, but also that she had made these just for me. "Thank you doesn't sound like a strong enough word of all of this." He pulled Lily into a hug, his size making her practically disappear from view. He released her with a chuckle. "Sorry. No one has ever baked this many cupcakes for me." He went to the cupcakes and took a chocolate with chocolate frosting and bit into it, sighing happily.
Lily laughed along with Tyler. "I know, right? I wholeheartedly blame you for her sugar addiction, though," she said, pretending to glare at him before breaking in to another grin. "Yeah, well it's easy to fall in love with me," Lily teased before she was pulled in to a huge hug. Tyler was like a bear compared to herself, but if anything that only made the hug even better - not to mention that her head was pretty much directly in line with his chest and she was able to get a breath of whatever cologne he was wearing, and it smelled amazing. "Nothing to apologize for, I'm happy you like them," Lily said, fixing her hair a bit after the huge hug before pushing herself up so that she was sitting on the counter like Ella had been earlier, her legs swinging off the edge. "Is chocolate with chocolate your favorite? I'll need to know for the future..."
Tyler "I will gladly take the blame." He smirked smugly. "After tasting these." He pointed to the half eaten cupcake which he could probably eat in one bite, but he didn't want to look like too much of a pig. "I'll get on my knees and propose." He winked, putting what was left in his mouth and making an orgasm face. "Chocolate anything is my favorite, but I like the vanilla ones too. Black, white, I don't discriminate." He laughed, picking up a vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting next. "These are so good though. I might have to like higher you as my full time baker. You and Ella both, of course."
Lily "Oh yeah? Have fun explaining to Alex that we're engaged, then," Lily laughed, knowing that when it came to her brother, Tyler would definitely watch his step. Not that she blamed him, he looked sort of terrifying but he was a huge softy, especially when it came to Lily or Ella. "Are the cupcakes really that good that you just came in your pants?" Lily said with a large smirk, noticing his face as he finished his cupcake. "So I could pretty much make you anything and you'd like it, is what you're telling me. I'll remember that," she said. Typical guy, eating anything that he could get his hands on. "Hey, we could do that for you. It would give us something more to do during the day, you know," she shrugged.
Tyler quickly decided that she had a point. "You're right. I should ask him first if it's cool with him." He nodded, a smirk on his lips to show he was teasing. "Almost. I didn't bring an extra pair of underwear so I had to hold back." He laughed. It was nice to have someone to hang out with. He was an outgoing guy, generally nice to everyone he talked to- but people never really stuck around for long. He even had one of his previous girlfriends break up with him because he was too clingy. It wasn't his fault that he liked to hug and cuddle and do all the things that most girls would love about him. He shook the thoughts away to nod and shrug at Lily's comment. "Pretty much." He agreed. "That would be pretty amazing. Also for the company. My house is so quiet it's almost scary." He shuttered slightly. "I'll pay you in cuddles and Ella in the airplane move she likes so much. She's brave by the way. Most kids are afraid when I do that because of my height."
Lily rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "Good to know that you held yourself back," she teased. Having grown up with an older brother, Lily was definitely used to such talk - not that she was a prude herself, especially considering she had a child. "I don't know how you can live in that much quietness, you know you're always welcome here whenever you want. Or you can call me whenever and we can hang out," Lily said with a bit of a shrug. Over the past two years, Lily had learned that silence was never a good thing, especially with a child around, so she found herself a bit paranoid if things were too quiet. It usually meant that Ella was getting in to mischief, or something was wrong. "That sounds perfect for me, and I know Ella will love that too. She is brave though, it's a little scary at times," Lily said with a laugh.
Tyler grinned, "Of course." He said. "I don't either. Thank you though, that means a lot. You and Ella are welcome at my house anytime as well. It can use some noise and a tiny bit of mischief." He smiled, looking down at the cupcakes and telling himself that he should pace himself. "Perfect." He looked back at her with a grin and a nod after hearing her comment. "Yeah the braveness can get a bit dangerous, I suppose. Don't want her turning into a daredevil. My nephew went down the stairs on a toy bike thing like it was no big deal. He must have been about a year older than Ella at the time." He shook his head at the memory, a smile at the memory as well. It had been a while since he had last seen his nephew. His older brother had been re-located to another province three years ago and it was hard for them to see each other. "I think I'll save some room for more later." He rubbed his stomach and looked at the cupcakes.
Lily smiled. "Well, Ella and I might very well be taking advantage of that offer, then. We could use some entertaining, and you could use some noise," she said with a laugh. "Oh god, don't tell me that!" Lily exclaimed, physically grimacing at the idea of Ella repeating the same thing. "Now I'll be putting padlocks on all the baby gates on the stairs, terrified that she'll do something like that," Lily laughed, but she was almost serious. Now she had another thing to worry about Ella doing, that was for sure. "That's probably a good idea. Does that mean it's time to cuddle now?" she asked, a hopeful grin on her face as she swung her legs.
Tyler "Well, I'm ecstatic to hear that. Yes, definitely." He smirked. "I shouldn't have told you that, huh? He was fine though! Just a small scratch on his arm." He assured her with a smile. "Hey, but those are a good idea. You can never be too safe. I have baby gates and I don't even have kids, well I can't but I got them for when I used to watch Carson for my brother. I'd be such an over worried father, I swear." He laughed, again thinking of his nephew. "Well, I'm not gonna dine and dash or anything. I want the cuddles almost as much as I wanted the cupcakes." He gave her a charming smile.
Lily "No, it's alright. I'm just a worried momma. I heard someone say that you spend the first three years of your child's life making sure that they stay safe and alive, and it's absolutely true," Lily said with a small laugh. "You'd definitely be a good dad, though. You might give too many sweets, but you'd be good," she grinned, hopping off of the counter before grabbing Tyler's hand, beginning to tug him out of the kitchen. "Alright, let's go then, up to my room."
Tyler nodded as he completely understood what she was saying. "I can see how that could be true. I mean, they're so helpless you know. I can see why parents look after them so closely, well most parents. There's the few that shouldn't be parents, but..." He trailed off with a shrug. Being an Official, he had plenty of experience with that kind of thing. Domestic disputes and abuse of children. It was terrible, but sometimes there was not very much to be done about it. Especially when they were a high ranking Official. "Thank you. I think I would have been too. If I had chosen to be a match, that is." He added before following her lead. "Cupcakes and cuddles. Don't know how it can get any better." He said with a soft laugh, following her to her room.
Lily "Yeah, there's definitely plenty of people that shouldn't have children... I see some of them just out and about and it makes me wonder why they'd go through with it if they were really as miserable as they seem with their kids. With Ella though... I could never be miserable," Lily rambled on with a small smile. "But if you asked anyone that knew me before I moved here, they would all say that I'm one of those people that shouldn't have kids. I think I proved them all wrong, though," she laughed. Being an avid partier before getting pregnant, it was understandable why people would think that. But she turned that all around immediately after finding out she was expecting. "It can't get any better," Lily grinned, leading him to her room and shutting the door behind them once they got in, and flipping on the baby monitor on her side table before flopping down on her bed. "Make yourself comfortable," she said, motioning towards the bed.
Tyler gave a slight nod, "I say the same thing. But you never seem miserable. Even when you have to tell people she's your niece, not your daughter." He said lightly as he followed her into her room. "Proved them wrong, indeed. You're a great mother, Lily. And when of the strongest people I know." He added, running a hand through his hair and hoping he hadn't crossed any boundaries. He smiled at her comment and went to lay next to her on the bed. He turned to her and gave her a reassuring smile, but it almost felt as if though he was reassuring himself. "I never thought I'd be cuddling with you. Some of it is because you're my friends little sister, but there's more to it than that."
Lily couldn't help but grin as Tyler complimented her and her parenting skills. Lily only ever heard it from her parents and her brother, which made sense because they were some of the only ones that knew that she actually was a mother. It was nice to actually hear it from people. "Thank you, really. It... it's nice to actually hear it sometimes," she smiled. "It takes all of my energy not to seem bitter about not being able to tell everyone that she's mine, though. People think Alex is such an amazing father because Ella is such a sweetheart, but he has nothing to do with it. It's hard," she said with a bit of a frown, but it disappeared almost as soon as she moved herself over to be even closer to Tyler. "What more is there, then?" Lily asked, a small smirk spreading across her face.
Tyler "Of course. It's only the truth. I'm sure more people would tell you, if they knew you were a mother." He looked at her with a warm smile. "That's why you're strong." He nodded, the smile still on his face. As she moved closer to him, he licked his lips nervously as he didn't expect her to ask for the other reasons. "Well, you're- ah, gorgeous Lily. I know it sounds like a strange response, but girls like you usually don't go for guys like me. Not that- I really don't know where I'm going with this I'm sorry." He laughed softly.
Lily "Well I wouldn't be strong at all if it wasn't for Ella," Lily said with a bit of a shrug. "But I don't see it as strong, it's just... what I have to do as a mother to keep her safe. Even if it hurts, and even if I hate the idea of Alex's boyfriend thinking that he'll get to be a step dad," she mumbled with a grimace. Of course, she didn't exactly know if that was what he thought, but she still didn't like it. However, she couldn't stay annoyed as Tyler only went ahead and complimented her, and a blush began to creep across her face. "You mean that girls don't go for guys that are unnaturally attractive and are like big, amazing teddy bears?" she asked with a smile, breaking the space between them as Lily began to settle against Tyler's chest. "I'd be crazy /not/ to go for a guy like you," she said quietly, wondering if she had just admitted that she was, in fact, a bit attracted to him.
Tyler admired her for being the great mother and person that she was. "Kids sometimes have a way of changing people. Making you feel stronger, I'm sure." He said, remembering how much his older brother had changed when his wife gave birth. "Oh. Well, that's Alex's fault. He should tell him the truth, if he thinks he can trust him. If not... then maybe he shouldn't be bringing said mysterious boyfriend around you and Ella." He said, quick to defend Lily and Ella. He could just picture the look of betrayal on Alex's face. "They don't get to see the teddy bear in me. They hear the word Official and run for the hills. Which, I don't blame them I guess." He admitted, moving towards her as well as he rested a tentative hand on her waist. He smiled wide at her last statement and he wondered if she could hear how quickly his heart was beating as her head was close to his chest. "You've just made my day." He chuckled.
Lily nodded as Tyler spoke, a small smile on her face. "Yeah, that's definitely true. I was a completely different person before I had Ella. All it took was me finding out I was pregnant to change really everything about me," she said. "But it was a change for the better. I wouldn't change any of this for anything," she smiled, instantly relaxing as she settled in Tyler's arms. There was just something about cuddling with him that made everything feel so much... better, and she could definitely get used to it. "If Alex doesn't tell him, I'm going to," Lily said definitively. It was unfair enough that she had to pretend that Ella wasn't hers, but enough was enough. "Hey, if anyone knows that Officials aren't always as scary as they seem, it's me," she said with a shrug. "But I sort of like being the only person that knows what a teddy bear you are, it means I don't have to share you with anyone," she grinned.
Tyler smiled, "Good." He said, relaxing as he felt her relax. "Hey, if that's what you've gotta do. It might piss him off, but he needs to take your emotions into consideration as well." He told her gently, his hand moving from her waist up to her arm comfortingly. "True. Some people just don't want to deal with us." He chuckled as if though it really didn't matter to him. "Not too keen on sharing? Maybe that's where Ella gets it from. Like the time she wouldn't let me play with her stuffed puppy." He smiled warmly, moving his head down so their foreheads were almost touching. "I'll take up being your cuddle buddy on a full time bases."
Lily nodded, happy that she had someone that actually agreed with her. She didn't talk to her parents about these sorts of things - even though she lived with them, she really did most things on her own with Ella and didn't really confide with them about such things. And even if she did, they'd take Alex's side, she was sure of it. "I'm happy you're on my side," she smiled. "It depends what I'm supposed to be sharing, sometimes I'm better than others. But Ella, she's not much of a sharer at all. If you thought she was bad with the puppy, you should try to get some food from her sometime," Lily laughed, shaking her head a bit at her daughter's antics. That girl loved her food, that was for sure. "I hope you mean it, because I think I'm going to have to take you up on that offer," she smiled, looking in to Tyler's eyes.
Tyler "On your side one hundred percent. I think Alex might feel a little betrayed though." He chuckled. "I think it's cute that you don't like sharing. You shouldn't have to either. Both of you should get everything you want. Like princesses. I'd probably spoil you both rotten, if that was the case." He smiled fondly. It was only the truth. He cared about Lily and Ella far more than he probably should. Ever since he was first introduced to Lily, she took his breath away. But when he found out the truth about Ella, he felt a need to protect them from the society. And that was why he never went to anyone with the information he had. "Yes. Do I need to apply for the position or maybe try outs? Or are these the try outs?" He returned her smile, looking back at her. He found himself getting lost in her eyes. "If that's the case, how am I doing so far?"
Lily "Fuck that, if Alex feels betrayed then he deserves it. /I/ feel betrayed because he's supposed to be doing all of this to protect Ella and I, but instead uses it to pick up dudes," she said, rolling her eyes. Lily didn't curse often, mostly because she was afraid of Ella repeating any of it, but this was an exception. "That would be nice, actually. My idea of being spoiled is having enough time to paint my toe nails," Lily said with a laugh. All of her energy went towards spoiling Ella and never really doing anything for herself that wasn't absolutely necessary. "Ella and I would be very, very lucky to have someone like you to spoil us," she smiled. "You passed the test the moment you offered to cuddle with me," Lily grinned, wrapping her arms more firmly around Tyler. "And so far you're doing amazingly. But sometimes Ella likes to cuddle as well, so you have to get her approval as well." Not like that would be a problem - Ella absolutely loved Tyler, especially because he'd play with her.
Tyler couldn't help but let out a slight chuckle as Lily got passionate about Alex using Ella for the wrong reasons. "I don't find that amusing." He said in his defense. "I just think it's adorable when you cuss. I've never heard you do it, sorry." He apologized and chuckled again. "Me time is very important for mommies." He nodded. "And I'd do it gladly too, no complaints from me." He added with a smile. "I'm a big cuddler and I love hugs, I hope I pass the test." Ella always seemed to like him, and he was very much attached to the toddler. "I'm glad I offered up my arms for you. I like this." He told her, a permanent smile on his lips now as he very much enjoyed being this close to her. He rested his forehead against hers and had to hold back from going on about how happy he was at this very moment. He wouldn't want to scare her away. This was only cuddles. With a friend.
Lily had to laugh along with Tyler, understanding where he was coming from. "That's probably because we've never really been alone together. Ella's usually around, but... I could easily get used to this," she said. "Cuddling and actually having some alone time. It's... really nice," she smiled. "Oh please, you and I both know that you'll pass Ella's test with flying colors. She loves you, maybe even more than she loves me," Lily laughed, but she was being pretty serious. There was just something about Tyler that made him so amazing, so it wasn't too much of a surprise to Lily that he'd captured both of the Waters' hearts. "I like it too. Like I said, I don't really get time to relax like this and actually... feel relaxed," Lily smiled, suddenly becoming very aware of just how close the two of them were to each other, with their foreheads resting together - but it certainly didn't cause her to make any attempts to move.
Tyler grinned, "Yeah, you have to really watch what you say around kids. They pick up on everything." He said with a chuckle. "And you deserve every minute of it. Truly." He assured her. "It's probably because she thinks I'm on her level. I totally speak her language. That, and I can't say no to her. Especially when she looks at me with those big eyes and points at the lollipop you told her she couldn't have." He laughed softly, remembering that day. "She has me wrapped around her little finger." He wasn't sure when the last time was that he had smiled so much. At her comment, he moved his hand to her lower back and began to rub soothing circles as if though assuring her that she was allowed to relax. "Maybe mommy deserves a day at the spa. I can always watch Ella. You can trust me with her, if you ever just need a day to yourself. Okay?" He asked, also noticing how close they were but he most definitely did not want to move away. If anything, he wanted to be closer to her.
Lily "Oh yeah, I know all about that. That was one of the things that I started to change right away, because I used to curse a ton," Lily said with a small shrug. It was one of the easier things that she had to change, honestly. "Yeah, you definitely win her over with all the sweets that you let her have, or sneak to her when you think I'm not looking," she laughed, letting him know that she did in fact know when he'd 'secretly' slip the toddler some sort of candy or sweets. "She does that, she has her momma's charm, obviously," Lily teased. Once upon a time she believed she had some sort of charm, but that was long gone. Hell, she couldn't even invite a friend over for dinner without him bailing on her and never showing up without any sort of call or text. "You're one of the only people that I actually would trust with her," Lily said truthfully, smiling at Tyler. Especially now, she trusted him far more than Alex to watch her, that was for sure. "Honestly though, if I could cuddle with you like this every day, I'd never need a day at the spa," she said with a laugh, but meant every word of it.
Tyler "Darn, and I thought I was being sneaky." He laughed. "She definitely has a lot of her momma, her charm being just one thing." He told her. It was only the truth. They had the same smile and the same personality. It always made him smile to see that. He hadn't really thought much into it until now. He had always just brushed it off as the happiness being a form of affection like one would feel for a close friend or family member. The fact that it might be more, slightly worried him. "Hey, I'd guard her with my life and treat her as if though she was flesh and blood." He left his thoughts for later. The comment that left her lips made him grin. His forehead was still touching hers so he pulled away only to place his lips on his forehead before he thought too much into it. "My arms will be here every day if that's what you want. I'm not going anywhere." It was a promise, but also a question. He needed to know what they were doing. Or maybe they were just better off not knowing and just cuddling, who knew.
Lily laughed, shaking her head. "Not sneaky enough, didn't you know that mom's have eyes on the back of their heads? Besides, didn't you think I'd realize it when she had chocolate or candy all over her face? She's not exactly a neat eater," she giggled. Even so, it was impossible for Lily to be mad at either Tyler or Ella for it. "I know you would, which is exactly why I'd trust you. You wouldn't let anything happen to her, not if you could help it," Lily smiled, cuddling herself a bit closer to Tyler. There wasn't really anything that she wanted more than to have someone that was really there for her and Ella, and while she didn't entirely have her hopes up that someone would want to be that person, it made her happy to know that Tyler would be there for them both. As much as Lily knew that she was doing a good job with Ella, she also knew that the toddler could use an even better male influence there for her, especially someone that was actually around. "Do you really mean that?" Lily asked, pulling back just the tiniest bit so that she could look at Tyler properly.
Tyler laughed along with her, a grin on his face as he remembered his mother used to tell he and his brothers that when they would get into trouble. "My mom would always use that on me and my brothers. I was the youngest so they'd always try to put everything on me. But she knew better." He smiled. "Right. She's really not the best partner in crime when it comes to cleaning up the evidence." He laughed. Knowing that Lily trusted him, warmed his heart in a different way that he found himself liking. "I'm glad you know that you can trust me. With Ella and with you of course. I'd never let anything happen to you." He promised. The secret she was keeping could get her into a lot of trouble, shipped out to the outer provinces trouble. "I want you guys to feel safe." He added. Tyler met her gaze as he heard her question, "Yeah. I'd pretty much do anything for you, Lily." He whispered out, bringing his hand up to rest at her cheek, stroking his thumb gently against her cheek.
Lily "Yeah, it'll take a lot to trick me, so keep that in mind when you're helping Ella be a mischievous little thing when she's older," Lily said warningly, but the smile on her face made it clear that she wasn't entirely serious, and that it wasn't like she'd really be all that mad over it. "No, she's not good with that at all. She's too busy shoving it all in her face to care about making any sort of a mess, even if it could get her in to trouble," she laughed, shaking her head a bit at the thought of it. "She's like a little trash compactor, I swear. She can eat anything. She'll be one of those girls that can eat like five cheeseburgers in a sitting and not gain an ounce," Lily giggled. She'd been one of those girls too, so it wouldn't surprise her in the least if her daughter shared her metabolism. "I know that you wouldn't. And trust me, we definitely feel safe with you," she smiled, leaning in to his touch a bit. "When you do sweet things like this, it makes it really, really tough for me to not want to kiss you right now," Lily admitted, a small smile on her face.
Tyler grinned, "Damn. We'll just have to take some sleuthing classes then." He smiled back, something about the way she said when she was older making him feel like he'd be around for a while. "Another thing I'll have to teach her then." He grinned proudly. "I can totally see that, honestly." He smiled a bit, noting Lily's giggle and finding the sound to be one of the most beautiful he's ever heard. He gazed down at her as she leaned in to his touch. Continue to lightly stroke her cheek with his thumb, he wondered what was going on in her beautiful mind. That was, until she said exactly what she was thinking. And what he'd been wanting to do for such a long time. He wondered for a moment if it would really be that bad if he did kiss her. Give in to what he wanted for once in his life. So, as if pulled like a magnet by her words, he moved his head down until his lips met hers. His stomach did the thing a stomach usually does when a plane takes off. It was the most amazing feeling, kissing the one girl that had easily stolen his heart.
Lily laughed. "Yeah, I guess you will. You two will have to get better at sneaking around, that's for sure," she teased. But in the back of her mind, Lily didn't really think that any amount of classes would be able to let them get away with too much, not with her at least. "Good luck with that one. I've been trying to teach her since she ate her first thing of sweet potatoes and it hasn't worked since. But watch, if anyone would be able to get her to change her ways at all, it'd be you," Lily said, rolling her eyes playfully. But honestly, Lily wasn't really able to think about anything but what was happening right then and there as she had Tyler's thumb stroking her cheek - and before she knew it, his lips were on hers. She had, quite honestly, always doubted that Tyler would feel anything for her that wasn't strictly friendly, especially with her brother being a bit protective over herself and Ella, so she was surprised when he kissed her but gladly reciprocated, not wanting the moment to end.
Tyler "I have my ways of getting her to learn new things." He smirked, knowing that she knew it was true. It wasn't as if though he was expecting her to push him away, but he was still surprised that she kissed him back. He had just spent a lot of time telling himself his admiration of her wasn't right, as if somehow it was wrong. His lips moved against hers gently, savoring the taste and feel of her lips against his. If they were in a crowded room, everyone would just disappear and it would just be her kissing him. Not wanting to push her too far or overstep his boundaries, he pulled away but remained close and let out a soft sigh. "Maybe I'll just keep doing sweet things, so you'll never not want to kiss me- I've been wanting to do that for a long time, Lily." He admitted, resting his forehead on hers.
Lily "I'm willing to bet that your way of teaching has to do with positive reinforcement with candy, doesn't it?" she asked, knowing fully well that with a child like Ella, that was probably the best way to get her to do something, but it wasn't how she liked to do it herself. Still, if Tyler could get it to work, she'd let him do it. Lily found herself in a moment of pure bliss as she kissed Tyler, knowing that if she thought before that cuddling was an amazing way to relax, this was even better. It had been years since she'd been with anyone like this, in the most innocent of ways, but being there with Tyler felt better than she ever imagined, and it was over far too fast. "Yeah, I think you should do that," Lily said with a soft laugh, a bit breathless now. "I've been wanting to do it too, I just... never thought you would," she admitted, a faint blush beginning to creep up her cheeks.
