ashes to ashes ( kjh & jwi )
“mum? it’s me, jiho.”
honestly, it feels awfully embarrassing to be calling her mother for such a reason: to admit to the failure of her coven and to complain, both of which her mother will surely not be too fond of. still, jiho feels the need to tell her about what’s going on in the coven that is so close to her heart still, after years of her graduation from baridegi.
“ah, yeah, i’m good! wheein is, too,” she answers quickly and confidently to the cliché questions every mother instinctively asks when her daughter calls her. jiho hesitates a little, a short silence wrapping the line before she finally lets out a sigh and just blurts, “mum, the order screwed up.”
she sounds surprised; not quite understanding her daughter’s words.
“what do i mean? ah– i mean that you know how we are involved in demon stuff... and some of the members wanted to conjure some demon to negotiate with them but they failed and managed to summon some spider creature... mum, it was really ugly... i was there to witness it...” she trails off as a shiver shakes her body, images of that night popping up in her head but she forces them to evaporate.
“i know. it caused quite the problem... me and another familiar was sent to chase it down and we did, but it was so gross? but the witches don’t even seem to be swayed at all. they didn’t reflect for one bit. they want to continue conjuring.” a sound of frustration escapes her. “it feels so bad to have such limited options as a familiar! i’m starting to wonder if the order accepts familiars only so they could be ordered around... pun intended. i’m funny mum, aren’t i?” she chuckles, heart warming up when her mother laughs along, although it’s a short moment. “anyway, that’s all i really wanted to tell you.” // @cvwheein
