Fix | Blair & Bryan
@mpbryan:
This was a preliminary session, Bryan was taking notes and trying to work out how best she could be helped by the hospital. He gave her a little smile, “Is there a reason why you feel like you have to be so strong? Sometimes when we show our vulnerability we’re being stronger than those who put up that front.” He gave her a small look. He just wanted to get to the root of all of this. He looked at the woman, she was beautiful, and he’d already circled the name of her God parent - Freyr. He’d spoken to a Son of Freyr before, he’d been having regular sessions to try to get over his grief at the loss of a partner. However, Bryan had had to give him to a different doctor, he couldn’t cope listening to a story about someone who’s partner had left. It hurt too much.
He did like Blair, he wondered why she was here, she was a little withheld from him and that was okay, he knew that it wasn’t the most comfortable situation to be speaking to a therapist for the first time. He always hated the first session with someone new, having to go over the whole story again. He had pride themed items around the office and some badges on his outfit. He would always take them off when going into the wards, but here he was sure he was safe. “You’re safe here, I promise that, you don’t have to hold up the whole world.”
Blair hated being at the hospital, and hated even more that she had been half forced in to see a therapist, but she couldn’t blame it; Mount Phoenix has been having some uncharacteristic thunderstorms for months and, with her brother now gone, it was fairly obvious that she was the root of the problem. It didn’t make her detest it any less though. It was nothing to do with Bryan, he seemed nice enough and - at the very least - Blair didn’t have the urge to sock him in the face. It was actually the whole talking part that was a problem - she was used to keeping her walls up, had been doing so for years, and sometimes found it difficult to even show her vulnerability to her own mother.
“Do you tell that to everyone? I expect that it’s somewhere in your handbook - tell people to open up their hearts to the world,” she retorted in unexpected defensiveness, “I–” Blair stopped herself; she was really being too rude to the doctor. He was only there to help after all and, even if she did not agree with anything that he said, at the very least she knew he was genuine. “Sorry,” she mumbled, “I don’t like to talk much and, to be honest, I think it’s kind of bullshit that I have to be here in the first place. I’m fine. Seriously. It’s not my fault that half of my genetics want to drown Mount Phoenix in rain every time I so much as tear up. Not that I tear up, like ever.”
