Huie Henry Lamb, Jr. flew this plane along with Grant Turley. Huie passed away at 101 years old at home in Austin, Texas, on September 13th, 2025. My grandpa always told me meet as many of these people as I could years ago and I did just that. Fewer than 50,000 of the 16 and a ½ million Americans who served in WWII are still alive. My grandpa was in the pacific theater of war and his carrier was the Shokaku.
