Bunkyo Chrysanthemum Festival | 文京菊まつり
November 1st — November 23rd
Yushima Tenjin Shrine (also known as Yushima Tenmangu Shrine) is widely known as the home of the kami (deity) of scholars. This year's chrysanthemum festival showcases 2,000 lovingly tended flowers in full bloom, spread across the shrine grounds. The highlight of the festival is the chrysanthemum dolls. As part of an unusual tradition, chrysanthemums are arranged to look like human figures. Also on show are spectacular ozukuri (dome-shaped arrays of hundreds of blossoms), giant cascading blooms and carefully arranged tray landscapes. Treat yourself to a leisurely day surrounded by gorgeous chrysanthemums.
