23rd Navajo Council Winter Session Brings Out the Bling
WINDOW ROCK- Our legislative leaders were decked out in their traditional jewelry and they were turning heads. The Navajo Council is known to go all out with their outfits, blue jeans, white button ups, sport jackets, and other top-notch dress suits. Â
Nelson Begaye rocked a tie and a nice jacket with his pair of glasses he got from the eye clinic in Chinle. He was ready to walk down the runway with his fierce business attire. Some fashion experts called his look âbusiness cheiiâ.
âWe have business that we need to take care of and I show up to the shut down to do business in my business jacketâ. âI respectfully ask that we show up looking good for our constituentsâ. âThey voted for us to represent them and I will make them look goodâ.
Otto Tso got mad because many of his council members left without complimenting his dress attire. His neck was heavy from holding up his heavy silver jewelry. Some were blinded from the reflection as he moved around the legislative room.
âThey were the ones to leave firstâ, he angrily proclaimed. âThese are not leaders because they do not respectfully address my lookâ. âI want them to stay as long as I do and I want them to validate my look, the traditional medicine manâ. âI looked good todayâ, he said angrily.
âI made this necklace with my own hands and my sweat was chiseled into the silverâ.
Our reporters noticed that Leonard Tsosie was seen fixing Seth Damonâs jewelry. His LDA told our reporters that Leonard Tsosie helped the council delegate pick out his attire for the day.
Seth Damon stayed until the end as Leonard Tsosie left. Damon was seen looking into the mirror practicing his model face for any photographers from Navajo Times. His presence reassured Tso and he was the first to comment on the Tuba City delegates fashion sense.
Tloâchiâiin reporters stayed late with the Council and they recorded the whole session. Â Council has been influenced by outside influences and many could tell.
