god i absolutely love that feeling of waking up in the morning to a notification telling me i got my paycheck
last week i was doing an overhire shift at a theatre that is in the process of being renovated which meant no one knew their way around. so at one point three of us were trying to go from the upper level of the theatre to the stage level
and there was a door pretty much where you would expect a staircase to be so we all just automatically went through it. and found ourselves in an empty closet. our boss had knowingly watching all three of us walk into a closet and was laughing his ass off when we all just turned around and walked back out.
and of course my first thought upon realizing i was in a closet was just âah man, not this shit againâ because my brain just automatically makes gay jokes at this point
nothing like leaning half my body two feet off the catwalk to aim and focus a light to get over my paralyzing fear of heights

reasons today was good
-my twelve hour shift got cut down to an eight hour shift which is always nice
-got to work with some people from another theatre who were super nice and chill
-one of them took my contact info in case they decide they want to hire me at some pointÂ
-schedule wasnât super packed so I got to take breaks and read my book
-it was a really nice day, like i was running around in jeans and not dying of heatstroke
-rootbeer
-one dude gave me some twislers as a thank you at the end of the day
-honestly just a lot of really good human interactions today
-metro wasnât even that packed today and most of the time i got to sit down
-bought myself an apple pie because im an adult!Â
so last week at my overhire job weâd all meet up and then drive out together, and on the highway there was one of those electric signs and what it was supposed to say was âclick it or ticketâ basically a reminder to wear seat belts
the only issue was that the c was burned out
so instead it read âlick it or ticketâÂ
which is a very different message
other tech: ah! damn theatre goblins
me: hey i thought i was the theatre goblin
tech: nah we're the theatre rats
