RDR 1 STARTERS // ACCEPTING

“i ain’t worried, Arthur. but i don’t want you killing him. you’ll never forgive yourself for it and you know it,” Sadie keeps her voice low as she speaks, not wanting their son to end up overhearing them and start asking questions. Jake Morgan is a curious boy but thankfully, he’s far too entertained with the dog right now to question what his parents are doing. even though she said she wasn’t worried, her expression betrays her– brows pinched and stress showing in every line on her face, hand anxiously resting over her swollen belly. neither one of them had expected to have John Mar.ston at their doorstep, especially not under these circumstances. he’s going to come back, and he’s either going to try to take both of them in or end up killing Arthur for the Pinkertons, and she can’t let that happen. it doesn’t matter what they once were– her family is on the line, and she’s not letting anybody take nothing from her ever again.

   “ you’re going to kill yourself if you keep holding back . ” she’s found him by scent , she recognized it from a few nights ago . that sickness in his face , she knows it well . it’s the reason why she’s so careful when coming into contact with humans . she walks out from behind a tree at his makeshift camp , she’d stolen some clothes to get by and carried them here . most folks didn’t take to kindly to the random naked women , especially at night . hands up in innocence , she’s seen most humans do that and it’s kept them from getting shot . “ the longer you hold out , the worse it’s going to be . you have to let it happen , at least the first time , then you can work on longer periods between the next turn but you’re killing yourself like this . ” she knows it sounds crazy , but he’s got to feel that animal trying to claw it’s way out . she can smell the wolf on him , he realizes what’s happening , right ?

“ hello , arthur . ” head looks up from beer in her hand . it’s been sipped on , but barely . though it’s gotten easier , she’s able to help out around the camp and the chores don’t tired her out but she still can’t find it in herself to sing and play with the rest . it’s almost infectious now though , the mood . what with the loud one back in the camp , it seems despite the complaints everyone has , be brings a sort of spirt to everyone . sadie stays behind the wagons alone still , however , no one needs her dampening the mood . “ not in the mood to sing and dance tonight ?  ” she inquires , looking up at the looming figure . “ you’re welcome to join me if you’d like though i can’t say i’m much company . ”
