Love the vulnerable strength and openness of @carolinegleich. #Repost @carolinegleich ・・・ When I was a teenager, I went to rehab for abusing alcohol and drugs and other mental health challenges. It was difficult for me to imagine my future because I didn’t know how to get through a day. It pains me to write about this time of my life. It’s a time I’d rather forget about. ⁣ ⁣ When I was 18, I started to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a professional skier and outdoors woman. Today, I can say with confidence that the outdoors saved my life. It brought a spark back to my eyes and put a spring back in my step. I set goals, achieved them, and set new ones. And I found healing and happiness. ⁣ ⁣ I think you can relate. I know we share a deep love for the outdoors. In these wild places, we reconnect with each other and ourselves. I don’t like how politics divides us. I’m grateful for when you continue to follow me even when we disagree. I don’t always get it right. I am always listening to you and open to changing my mind. ⁣ ⁣ One thing I know we can agree on is that this land is worth protecting. There are 50 million Americans who love the outdoors. At the age of two we immigrated from El Salvador and landed in the rich agricultural soil of California’s farmlands. I was raised deeply ingrained by my mother’s farm working work ethic in conjunction with an appreciation for the planet. Having worked the soil throughout my youth myself accompanied with world travels through the sport of running I’ve generated a deep appreciation for our land and it’s climate change awareness. I’m grateful to be joining @protectourwinters to be an active daily advocate in the protection of our planet, be a voice heard whether in English or Spanish, And inspire global citizens to be the change and movement for a better today and tomorrow!
