“REQUIEM POUR 1 QUARTIER”
by Da Cruz
Few artists have had as great an impact on their neighborhood as Paris’s Da Cruz. When you cross the canal on Rue de l’Ourcq and enter the heart of the 19th Arrondissement this small 2014 figure by Da Cruz is the first to greet you, but be prepared—this is but a small taste of what he has waiting for you. Inspired by his many trips to South American and Africa he has not only brightened countless walls himself, but for 11 years he has been intstrumental in bringing in a host of other artists to celebrate the diversity of the neighborhood and bring people together with the annual Living Colors festival. “What better place than the street, this open-air museum,” he says “to make people meet through art? @dacruzgraffiti @ourcqlivingcolors
