Idk why I'm posting abt this picture in particular so much-

It has taken me a full year and a half to figure out a design for her btw

WHY did percy do that? it seems obvious that he would know the hate that runs through their town. if he was kai's partner, surely he would've done everything to keep them both safe... so WHY go to kai's crappy parents and out him and their relationship?

even if he didn't know about kai's rocky home situation, which feels maybe unlikely but not impossible, he knows his own parents. he knows his community. he knows kai! and he knew kai wanted to keep it a secret. did HE want to come out, so he outed his relationship? kai describes percy as kind and shy, so it feels weird to imagine him taking it upon himself to do all that. it seems almost uncharacteristically selfish.
