Personality: As a young kit, Otterkit was much more relaxed than he is now, but he was forced to grow up quickly due to his mother’s abuse. As an adult, he is bitter and fairly cold, but cares deep down. He will-- and has-- taken drastic measures to protect himself and his family. The anger which he had throughout his apprentice and warrior days has since mellowed, though he still isn’t the friendliest of cats. He has a major soft spot for kits, elders, his littermates, and Skunktail.

Backstory: Otterkit was the black sheep of his litter from the start, being differently colored and heavily resembling his father rather than Rushbrook. This gave the queen a strong distate for him, and a general unwillingness to deal with him. He picked up on this quickly, preferring to spend time with his father, who had nothing but affection for him and his siblings. He also spent a great deal of time with Skunkkit, a kit that Rapidstar had found abandoned in their territory.

After Pikefang died in a fox attack, Otterkit grew bitter and angry with life, an anger that persisted throughout his apprenticeship and warrior life. He was quick to anger, even by his littermates and Skunkpaw, to the point where he even attacked Reedpaw once. His bitterness only grew when Reedpaw left, feeling abandoned and like a failure of an older brother. He gained his first warrior name, Otterclaw, soon after.

His anger reached a breaking point after Rushbrook took Larkstar as a mate and had kits with him, and soon after, made an attempt to kill him. Otterclaw took her life in retaliation, though was injured in the fight. He snuck into camp to tell Rainsong and Skunktail he was leaving, knowing Larkstar wouldn’t let him stay and might even kill him, and ran away. Larkstar caught him and attempted to kill him, but Otterclaw took one of his lives, gaining many grievous wounds during the fight. He finally got away, using herbs that Reedpaw had taught him to fix himself up the best he could, then went to find his brother.

He and Orion lived at the barn for a while, Skunktail soon joining them. During this time, he and Skunktail adopted three kits from a kittypet friend of theirs, raising them as their own. After a few moons, they all returned to SpringClan. Otterfang requested his name be changed, wanting to honor his father’s memory. They remained in SpringClan while Reedwhisker and Rainsong left to MarshClan.
