Another Ice Storm in the Ottawa Valley
Yet another ice storm has descended upon the Ottawa Valley.
It is beautiful to behold, but unlovely to experience.
Power has been out for more than twenty-four hours. Many patriarch trees are snapping under the weight of thick ice that encrusts them.
The horses seem to be enjoying it, though!

Thigh-Deep Snow and 20 Degrees Celsius
The fields are thigh-deep with snow, but the temperature has soared above 20ºC in a bizarre meteorological bubble around my farm in Almonte.

Before I moved to the Ottawa Valley, I imagined rural Canada to be peaceful and silent.
It is certainly a peaceful place, but it also reverberates with a symphony of life.
The sky trembles with birdsong, the river pulses with the splash of geese and peeping of frogs, and even the grass whistles as wind races over the fields.
