The 1943 film version of π±πππ π¬πππ and the 1947 film π»ππ πππππ ππ π―πππππ were produced by 20th Century Fox (Now 20th Century Studios) back in the era when the studios still had large costume departments. While studios still maintain some costumes in-house, the wardrobe departments are not nearly as large as they once were, and costumes today are generally rented from a costume house. Β This particular costume is a dressing gown worn by none other than Orson Welles as the character of Edward Rochester in π±πππ π¬πππ. Some costumes from this film went on to be used by Rex Harrisonβs character of Stephen Fox in π»ππ πππππ ππ π―πππππ. Β If two actors contracted at a studio shared similar measurements, it was not uncommon for them to share costumes throughout films. For example, it has long been rumored that Clark Gableβs costumes were repurposed several times for John Wayne, though no examples have yet been found to confirm this. "Nascemos sozinhos, vivemos sozinhos, morremos sozinhos. Somente por meio do nosso amor e da nossa amizade podemos criar, por um instante, a ilusΓ£o de que nΓ£o estamos sozinhos." - Orson Welles
"For me, almost everything that's called "directing" is a great bluff. In the cinema, there are very few men who are real directors, and of these, very few who have much opportunity to direct. The only "direction" of any importance is exercised in the process of editing...
But for my style, for my vision of the cinema, editing is not simply one aspect: it's the aspect. The notion of "directing" a film is the invention of critics like you. It isn't an art, or at best it's an art only one minute a day. That minute is terribly crucial, but it occurs very rarely. The only time one is able to exercise control over the film is in the editing. Well, in the editing room I work very slowly, which has the effect of arousing the ire of the producers, who then take the film out of my hands. I don't know why it takes me so much time: I could work forever on the editing of a film. So far as I'm concerned, a strip of film is performed like a musical score, and that performance is determined by the editingβjust as one conductor will perform a piece of music with a great deal of rubato, another will play it dryly and academically, a third will be very romantic, and so on. The images themselves are not sufficient. They're very important, but they're only images. What's essential is the duration of each image and that which follows each image: the whole eloquence of cinema is that it's achieved in the editing room."

In 1950, pianist Hazel Scott hosted her own network show,Β The Hazel Scott Show. For 45 minutes every week, she played piano and interacted with her audience. It was the first TV show ever to be hosted by an African American, and it received outstanding ratings. Later that year, right-wing journalΒ Red Channels put out a list of actors, musicians and others in entertainment industry suspected of being Communist sympathisers. The list includedΒ Leonard Bernstein, Orson Welles and Hazel Scott. She volunteered to testify before the House Un-American Activities and strongly criticised the blacklisting process. A week later, her talk show was cancelled and she moved to Paris. Here, she is performing "Takin' A Chance" in 1943. #jazz #jazzmusicbox #hazelscott #piano #jazzpiano #jazzarchives #jazzhistory #jazzvideo #jazzstandard #show #live #chance #leonardbernstein #orsonwelles #blacklivesmatter #music #musicvideo #legend #jazzlover #instagram #instamood #saturday #instagood #instamoment #paris #talkshow #performance #takinachance https://www.instagram.com/p/CUP09dQsSwW/?utm_medium=tumblr
