This is The Hanged Man card for @skegulium‘s Orivar!Â
This is a card that represents sacrifice, suspension, and restriction. Reversed it means indecision, martyrdom and delay
It’s a good card for Orivar, whose a fuschia/maroon cusp with a gills mutation.Â
Obviously I’ve referenced the standard pose from the Rider Waite deck with the Hanged Man suspended upside down from a pole. The original Hanged Man appears to be at peace with his precarious position- Orivar plunges into a watery kraken horror with a smile on her face. There’s an ic reason for that because that’s her lusus. She doesn’t resist the wrapping of tentacles around her arms, pulling her into the depths and she’s even holding hands with one.Â
Orivar’s stuck in a catch 22 essentially. She’s soon approaching ascension age, but she’s been raised to distrust rebellions and is vulnerable to being culled on ascension for her mutation. She’s trying to figure out what to do with the rest of her life and her rock is really her lusus, who protects her and vice versa and is really the thing tying her down to a life on Alternia, where she can stay safe and consider her choices. It may also be the thing that’s preventing her from making a decision either way when it comes time to ascend.Â
