I will never do it again," was the plea of Mrs. Mara Angela Tessellio, 26, of Guelph, to Magistrate Jeffs in police court to-day after pleading guilty to a charge of stealing ten rings, including several diamonds from George Madden's jewelry store. The rings were valued at $245.
"I was just in the store looking about," the woman sobbed, "and I don't know what happened. I would never had done it except that I was drinking."
"If you were a young man you would be sent to Kingston for two or three years," Crown Attorney Evans told the woman. She was remanded in custody a week for sentence.
Worthwhile waking up early

Had not Dr. Lionel Penrose, Director of Psychiatric Research for the province, complained of the excessive use of restraints in his inspection report of Orillia for June 1940, after observing two paralytic patients under restraints in bed? “I do not believe it necessary to wind the bed-clothes around these patients the way it is done here.” He had seen two cases of fractured femurs due to injudicious lifting of delicate patients from their beds. Ignored. Not followed up on. Lost to the exigencies of time.
