Lavender Honey Cookie is a rather powerful healer - a role missing in the deceit trio. Sapphire can only heal poison types with his attack, and shadow milk can only heal himself with his shadow form. This is something shadow milk wants. Having a healer is important.
Hes also aware that most cookies that are healers or generally helpful… Won't want to be evil. it's a very caring sort of role, yknow? And anyways, since Vanilla beat him, and returned back to the vanilla kingdom, eventually everyone Knows Who Shadow Milk Is… so he can't rely on this powerful healer he's been watching from afar to willingly jump ship to his side.
So he has Black Sapphire go undercover and eventually give them an interesting little enchanted gift (the healers cross shaped clasp gem that holds his shawl on!) allowing Shadow Milk to puppet and possess them from anywhere, at any time!
Of course when they find out this is the case, he will feel very betrayed by their 'friend'.
He eventually ‘willingly’ defects to shadow milks side so he doesn’t have to fight Black Sapphire. (willingly in the sense that truthless recluse was ‘willing’. Not actually wanting to lol.) but this design is for how he looks *before* that surrender.
