My Orchestra teacher asked the class for a one page essay on our thoughts on our Winter Concert. I wrote four pages, front and back. LOL, oh my god, I wrote so much to her. She's going to hate me for critiquing her and point out so many flaws. I probably sound like a beep in my paper but I was just being honest. Forreaaaaal. I hope she enjoys my paper though and tries to do something about orchestra to make it better. Seriously, I spent a good half hour on it, writing down all my thoughts and suggestions.

So yesterday, I had my District Orchestra Festival that included all grade schools, elementary, middle, and high school. It was finally for the advanced high schoolers to play out pieces so everyone got up and sat in our respective seats. My conductors tells everyone to tune up so before we started playing our pieces.
Oh my god. The worst thing ever happened. So I started tuning and then out of nowhere, BAM. My string...snapped and totally popped out. It completely broke off. It was "D" string. D: Violas have CGDA strings, and my "D" one broke, which absolutely SUCKS because it's my most important string. Practically all my notes are on the "D" string.
Dude, I panicked. My string broke right before our performance. And it also sucks because the impact of my string breaking off my bridge was soooo intense, all of my other string got out of tune as well. Wth....I think it was the penny i pick up earlier that day because it was tails up. D: Bad luck man.
....So basically, I didn't get to play for the three songs we had during out concert... I had to fake it and I'm hoping no one had noticed. I'm still so sad though. My "D" string broke. ):
Real quick rant. I always complain about orchestra. I know.
Ms. Jowe, almost everyday I rant and complain about how much I hate you. With a passion, almost. Immediately as soon as I walk out of the orchestra room, I whine over to my friend, Emilie and I start talking smack. You're an OKAY Notables teacher. I wish you'd give us more of a variety of song choices. The ones you choose are so disgusting, I hate them. But for orchestra, you are terrible.
Don't even get me started omg. Your seating arrangement is so unorganized, it's ridiculousness. FIRST OF ALL, cellos are suppose to be seated NEAR the violas. It's really idiotic to place them near the first violins. "Cellos need to be able to hear the first violins." It's so stupid, why on earth would you place them there. The set-up has always been Firsts, Seconds, Violas, Cello, and Bass to the side. Once a concert comes along, they have to move back near the violas, and then they're going to be so used to being with the firsts, and they wont be able to hear them anymore. It's just going to throw off everything. It's not going to make anything better.
Also, you put the back players in the front. That's the stupidest thing you can ever do. There's a reason why they're in the back. It's because they aren't as good as the leaders up front. They're in the back so that you can hear them less. It's their fault if they don't practice, but still. You don't put the weaker people in the front. That'll just make us sound even more horrible.
I hate how you always combined us with the freshmen orchestra. We're advanced, there's a reason why we have two separate orchestras. And then when you want to combined us, all the seating is off too. Everything is so unorganized, it's pitiful. Because not only do we sound bad, we look pretty bad too. I just hate hate hate how you run this class. I honestly think you have no idea what you're doing.
I think the seniors now could run this orchestra better than you can. Seriously.

I brought my viola home this week. Guess who's actually going to practice their music? This quuuuuuuuuuuuuuurl. I used to be so eager to learn and practice my instrument. I guess over the past two years, I've been so unmotivated, I gave up on trying. I dunno know why. I complain all the time in orchestra because it annoys me so much how our conductor is so terrible. Even with all my criticism, orchestra is one class that I will never, ever drop out on. I actually really love playing.
Orchestra.
I brought my viola home for the break off and I started practicing some old music I found two years ago. Orchestra was the shit back then, when we still had Mr. Song as our conductor. We played some pretty challenging, legit classical music, from Mozart and Tchaikovsky, and playing it gave back so many memories.
In 9th grade, I was one of the four freshmen that were transferred into the Advanced Orchestra, while most stayed in Freshmen Orchestra. They needed more violas and I don't really know why, but Mr. Song chose me to be in the Advanced one. And it was so fun. Everyone was so talented at their own instrument: violin, bass, cello, piano, etc. That was my first year being in high school orchestra and it was the best.
I was also in a little smaller group of Chamber Orchestra, where the really advanced musicians played all four parts of Vivaldi's Four Seasons. We had out of school practices at night, from 7 to 9 pm, and we were pretty successful. I don't know, orchestra isn't the same as it was two years ago. I used to considered orchestra my second family, because everyone was so cool, friendly, gifted, and close.
It's complete different now, ever since we got a new conductor. Our music sucks, she's a push over, she's isn't a good conductor, and she isn't open to new ideas and improvements. Yeah, I just miss orchestra in freshmen year.
