This recipe for Easy Orange Chicken is a quick and easy way to make your favorite takeout dish at home. A cornstarch batter makes the chicken crispy, and then it is tossed in an orange sauce that is both sweet and sour.
Ingredients: 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces. Salt and pepper to taste. 1 cup cornstarch. 2 eggs, beaten. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. 3/4 cup orange juice. 1/4 cup soy sauce. 1/3 cup brown sugar. 1/4 cup rice vinegar. 1 teaspoon minced ginger. 2 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water. Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish optional.
Instructions: Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Dredge chicken in cornstarch, then dip in beaten eggs. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken to skillet and cook until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-6 minutes per side. In a separate saucepan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Bring to a simmer. Stir in cornstarch mixture and cook until sauce has thickened, about 2-3 minutes. Pour sauce over cooked chicken in the skillet, tossing to coat evenly. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
