An early start, which was hard to do, but I’m so glad I did get up as the run was great.
I spent the majority of the run in low Z2 but the pace was pretty good at around 9:40/mile. I even managed to up the speed for the last 0.95miles of this 7.95mile run in order to gain my fastest mile pace of 7:20/mile. Okay… so I nearly slowed down to a normal pace after about 0.25miles but then I saw my neighbour walking his dog so I just had to keep going.
This long run was mainly brought to you by the sounds if 30STM, Gnr & Kodiak Jack.
The intervals in today's run were meant to be three lots of 6 minute sprints with a 2 minute jog inbetween but I didn't program the watch properly so it just gave me last week's efforts instead. Five lots of 3 minute sprints was still good though, and even gave me a 10k pb, according to the watch anyway (I'm sure I've gone faster than 56 minutes before). I still feel quite springy, which is a great feeling to have, after this effort so now just need to ensure I do my school work and keep this confident feeling into the rest of the week. #OperationIronman2016 #IronmanTraining #IMUK #goprorunning #goprorunner
The plan was a four hour ride, an easy hour to Notley followed by the two hour B2T ride and then an easy hour back. The hour up there was nice and easy at a good pace, then the club ride brought the moving average to about 14mph and the final section brought the average up to about 14.6mph.
The only problem was that I miscalculated the last part so actually added on an extra 2 hours rather than just one. Total milage equalled about 75 miles rather than 60 and I was ready to give up at about the 70 mile mark. It was good mental training as well though so I’ve got to be happy with it.
15 more training weeks to go, that’ll do just nicely. (at Great Notley Country Park)
Day 102. Another great ride. It started with a bit of a headache, but that soon left. Probably about the time of a little hail coming down. I completed some 5 minute Z4 efforts and it all felt pretty good, I just need to be a little wary of my left knee. #OperationIronman2016 #IronmanTraining #IMUK #bike #bikesocks

This helps me to keep everything in perspective, ironman training wise. There have been a whole heap of times that I've thought it's all been great, only to have the rug pulled. Equally, I know there is plenty of time and the hurdles are gradually being passed. 24 weeks to go.
That was probably my best swim so far. No sets, just straight swimming. Lovely distance, lovely time. #OperationIronman2016 (at Braintree Swimming Centre)
Someone told me once, that wrapping your feet in clingfilm will keep them warm on a bike ride. I'm not actually sure that he was correct. #bike #OperationIronman2016 #IMUK #IMUK2016 #ironmantraining
