been seeing that shakespearean theory about travis offering his life to laura before they go hunting for silas. tbh i interpreted that scene differently although i do like the theory as a shipper.

nonetheless, i thought of the scene as a test of trust. like he knows that she probably won't kill him because she didn't shoot him in the cell and left him alive even in werewolf form, but both those situations were fast-paced and filled with adrenaline. that shotgun scene, however, is pretty calm.

they have a moment to breathe (although of course they have to be fast so silas doesn't get too far away and all that jazz), so travis knows that in that very moment, laura killing him with the shotgun would not be done high on adrenaline or accidentally by werewolf instinct, but rather on purpose and calculation. she would have to will herself to shoot at him.

i thought that was why travis is just staring at her, watching her movements and her face (and surely because he likes the sight, ha) while he puts his life at her mercy. yet i do agree that he is very ready to let her end his life in this very moment.
