wowie another TADC au! how unique! yeah well- shush i love this show-

this was conceived like... two weeks ago, i'm making a post about it now because... i forgot i had a tumblr until like two days ago-

the Dome AU is a funbun-centricish AU (that i am actively writing and will be on AO3 soon) that takes place after Episode 9. the entirety of the show is effectively canon, with a few minor tweaks.

the AU is named the Dome AU after what Caine and Kinger moved the Adventure Worlds into, glass domes that vary in size that are interconnected by bridges, effectively creating a network of domes.

the concept is inspired by a playthrough of Project Ozone 2 (listed above) that i watched 7 years ago, the designs of the Domes are basically like the one shown in the thumbnail, however more rounded.

the AU also comprises sci-fi elements! i do want funbun to be a big part of the story but i do want to focus on what Caine and Kinger can do in the long run. i've always been a firm believer since the start of the show that it is the greatest piece of science fiction in a decade (and you can kill me for that, i will die on this hill anyway) and i'd love to explore how Caine can help humanity.

other key points:

Kinger and Caine manage to contact Kinger's real-life counterpart Grant, and after several days of Kinger and Grant talking, Grant moves the Circus to his house, and subsequently updates the Software of the Circus to Windows 7.

Grant refounds C&A (there will be another name for C&A, i just haven't figured it out yet) and starts work on a better more fuller version of Caine. With his conversations with Kinger and Caine.

The circus members have internet, meaning they can now watch movies and can, with the advent of a new sub-engine from Kinger called the Canvai engine, can immerse themselves in video games, much like Caine's adventures.

The cast members are okay with being neural scans. This might sound questionable at first glance, however I think it's quite absurd to think that since you're a neural scans, your emotions, thoughts, and actions are somehow lesser. The only real significant difference that being a neural scan gives, is that you can't really die? This becomes a significant moral dilemma that's explored later on in the story.

Kinger and Caine have a father-son relationship. Caine goes through significant periods of thinking that since he's a pile of code that his emotions are somehow lesser. Drama ensues.

Jax is named Daisy. Abstragedy is canon.

Caine still has all of his powers from before, he still goes through the same character arc that he had gone through in "Remember", he still rejoins the circus members as equals and continues to play games with them.

domes that were made by the circus members:

"Garden" - created by Kinger and Gangle - An as accurate as possible recreation of a real-life garden surrounded by a forest. Also in it is a river, a waterfall, some benches and lots of flowers of all sorts. Created for relaxation purposes. This dome also has a day/night cycle that is sped up. It is also the only dome that has it's environment altered so that Kinger can be fully lucid within it.

"Portrait of C&A" - created by Caine - A dome that comprises a comically large office building. As per Caine's wackyness, the dome is smaller on the outside, but the inside is twice as large. Contains several computers (with reduced admin privilages except for when used by Kinger) and nonsensical documents.

"Prairie" - created by Ragatha - A wide open field containing several horses that one can ride on. Created by her for personal enjoyment purposes.

"The Arcade" - created by Zooble (and help from Caine) - Possibly one of the more popular ones, aside from the Garden. Contains several working video games from the 1980s. As a request from Pomni, Minecraft is also a thing they can play (as per the timeframe TADC takes place in, the version is 1.12.*) but in a more adventure-style (meaning they can actually go into the game and play as if they were in an adventure)

So, more "heavily" gendered languages have this duality in whcih every noun has a grammatical gender but at the same time, gramatical gender does not equal actual gender.

Like, "una persona" is grammatically fememine, but it is totally normal to say "Pedro es una persona simpática" (Pedro is a friendly person). Even if the adjectives are female sounding, it doesn't imply Pedro's gender.

Still, at times it is difficult to find a good equivalent, especially for words that have the same base morpheme, but use a genered suffix, like "sobrino/a/e" (nephew, niece, nibling)

Let's take the words "child" and "sibling" as an example. And other ways of getting away with not gendering someone.
