I heard Danny Chung on a wonderful panel about Korean/Korean-American rap at KCON NY, and I am excited to see him write an article about this topic.Â
I’ve seen other people write about appropriation of black culture in kpop and k-hiphop music now (G-dragon’s brand, Hyorin’s and Moonbyul’s hair recently, Show Me the Money...etc.) so it was very interesting to see how black culture was appropriated when it was first introduced in Korea.

I’m proud to call Julianna Haahs a personal friend of mine. She’s always had an air about her that was genuinely sweet (extra emphasis on genuine) and selfless.
