okay so you know how they worship a shadow god? no? thats fair it comes up very rarely

anyways, so the gos was really desperate for followers, and when onyx stumbled upon it it was basically willing to do anything to get them as a worshipper. theres a lot of complex reasons for the god being so desperate but we're not getting into it

so, dr onyx, being a very broke 20-something desperately in need of money and their own place to live, asked to be good at everything. they were given the boon and so became the jack of all trades theyre known as today. theyre literally SUPERNATURALLY able to do everything and so long as they keep worshipping the god that will never change. however, since the god was [and is] very weak, it could only do so much. they still have to hone their skills to be anything more than fine. that part pisses them off a bit but its fine

moving onto a different subject. i feel like its pretty well known dr onyx doesnt take help of any kind when it comes to their augmentations. the reasoning for that seems to be a bit muddled, though. so im gonna explain it rn

basically, dr onyx is very, very, very serious about their autonomy. its been continuously taken away from them by their shitty parents, partners taking advantage of them, and just generally being mentally ill and disabled. the medical world isnt really something they have a good relationship with

so, their fear is that if they have somebody help, that person will continually nudge and push them to give them more control over the project and therefore control their body. donyx, obviously, does not want that. so they dont let people help. they dont even take the innocent advice theyre given by their peers. a big part of it is also that they just dont want other people melssing with something so personal to them

oh boy that got really heavy out of nowhere. anyways. uh. fun fact time?

-dr onyx really dislikes chemistry but they have to do it constantly because theyve gone the chemical route with their augmentations. it was easier to give themself sharp teeth with a goddamn elixir than it was to replace them through some other means

-they lie about their age constantly. no matter who you are, if you ask how old they are, theyll give you a random age between 19 and 38. theyre actually 27 but nobody needs to know that

-theyre legally dead for a lot of complicated reasons. their parents disowned them and kicked them out when they wre 16 and then faked their death. theyre pretty chill with it tho bc they dont know how to pay taxes

-they really really love big scary creatures. theyll always show compassion and kindness to them because they know theyre probably just acting out of fear or conditioning. this is how theyve come into the ownership of a mini-kraken

-the mini-kraken is named Pancake btw

-they know theyre insane but pretend they dont for the funsies. its a lot easier to be eccentric when you act like youre not mentally ill

-if they hadnt become obsessed with moths, they would be working to turn themself into a cat

-they dont identify as trans because theyw erent assigned a gender at birth. theyre intersex and their parents raised them gender neutrally so theyre like. basically a cis nonbinary person. i think this one is decently well known but idc

-their favourite type of tea is chamomile because it helps them fall asleep when their insomnia is acting up

-they have chronic pain due to their leg and hypermobility. they dont really know this tho? they think everyone hurts all the time and so never bring it up

-chronic overworker. the only times theyll take a day off work is when theyre either literally dying or their friends make a very convincing argument
