Only Jesus Saves
Truth in an Age of Deception
John 17:17 (KJV) Scripture Reading: John 17:17 (KJV):"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth." Opening Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your holy Word. In a world filled with confusion, deception, fear, and division, teach us to love the truth. Give us discernment through the Holy Spirit. Help us to reject every false hope and every idol that competes with Jesus Christ. May our hearts be fixed on Your Kingdom and not the kingdoms of this world. In Jesus' name, Amen.
The Age of Confusion Brothers and sisters, many people look at today's headlines and ask, "Is this really happening?" Every day there seems to be another shocking story, another controversy, another scandal, another conspiracy, another reason for people to distrust one another.
It often feels as though reality itself has become difficult to recognize. The Bible warned that deception would increase before the return of Christ. Matthew 24:4-5 (KJV):"Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many."
Notice that Jesus first warned about deception before He spoke about wars, famines, earthquakes, and persecution. Deception is one of the great signs of the last days.
The Battle for Truth
Truth matters because God is truth.
Jesus did not say, "I show one version of truth."
He said: John 14:6 (KJV):"I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Satan, however, works in the opposite direction.
Jesus said of the devil: John 8:44 (KJV):"He was a murderer from the beginning... for he is a liar, and the father of it."
Whenever lies replace truth, darkness gains influence.
Whenever people celebrate falsehood instead of truth, the enemy rejoices.
Political Idolatry
In my opinion, Donald Trump has greatly contributed to the confusion surrounding truth in American public life. I believe many of his false or misleading statements have helped create an environment where truth is often treated as secondary to loyalty.
At the same time, I do not believe deception is confined to one political side. The far left and the far right can both distort reality by promoting narratives that go beyond the available evidence or ignore inconvenient facts.
As Christians, our loyalty belongs first to Christ not to any political movement, party, nation, or personality.
Psalm 146:3 (KJV):"Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help."
Politics cannot save us. Government cannot save us. America cannot save us. Only Jesus Christ saves.
The Danger of Social Media
Social media can spread truth.
It can also spread lies faster than almost anything else in history.
Rumors become "facts."
Conspiracy theories become certainty.
Gossip becomes entertainment.
Anger becomes profit.
The Bible warns us: Ephesians 4:25 (KJV):"Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour."
Christians should never spread information simply because it supports their preferred political side.
We should love truth more than being proven right.
The Last Days
The increasing confusion in the world should not surprise believers.
Jesus said: Matthew 24:6-8 (KJV):"And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars... For nation shall rise against nation... and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes... All these are the beginning of sorrows."
The apostles also warned that deception would grow.
2 Timothy 4:3-4 (KJV):"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine... And they shall turn away their ears from the truth."
These warnings remind us to stay spiritually awake.
Testing Every Spirit
Not everyone who speaks about God speaks for God.
1 John 4:1 (KJV): "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God."
Every preacher... Every influencer... Every politician... Every commentator... Every viral video... Every prophecy... Every movement... must be tested by Scripture.
Our final authority is not popularity. It is not political power. It is the Word of God.
My Personal Conviction
As a matter of personal conviction, I believe Donald Trump is the Antichrist described in Scripture, and I therefore encourage Christians to test that belief carefully against the Bible rather than accepting or rejecting it simply because of political loyalties. Whether someone agrees with my conclusion or not, every believer should examine the Scriptures and avoid placing ultimate trust in any human leader.
The Bible repeatedly warns against deception, false christs, and idolatry. Every Christian should take those warnings seriously.
Stand Firm in Christ
Our hope is not found in elections. Our hope is not found in governments. Our hope is not found in the economy. Our hope is not found in nationalism. Our hope is not found in earthly kingdoms. Philippians 3:20 (KJV):"For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ."
The Kingdom of God cannot be shaken.
Jesus Christ is still King.
Invitation
If you have trusted more in politics than in Christ, repent. If you have spread lies instead of truth, repent. If you have loved your political tribe more than your neighbor, repent. If you have placed your hope in earthly rulers rather than the King of kings, repent. Come to Jesus. He forgives sinners.
He gives eternal life. He alone is worthy of our worship.
Closing Scripture
John 17:17 (KJV):"Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."
May we love God's truth more than political narratives. May we seek Christ above every earthly kingdom. May we test everything by Scripture.
May we faithfully proclaim the Gospel until our Lord Jesus Christ returns. Amen.
