The Ex moved out five years ago (this week, come...
One time I let a coworker use my phone because she forgot hers at home. Long after she quit I’d still get calls from the guy she called. I told him it was my personal phone and it wasn’t hers. I told him I didn’t know her. Nothing worked. Instead of blocking him I added him to my contacts so I knew who was calling. Every time he called I’d pick up and make the most horrifying, eldritch abomination sound I could muster. I’d do it until he hung up. The calls stopped.
OH MY GOD, how obnoxious!
I don’t think I’m getting any repeat calls for the Ex, it’s just that he was on a LOT of call lists for politics and charities and stuff and they haven’t all got the message, because usually I just let the phone roll to voicemail, but once in a while I’ll be home when they call and the number will look familiar and so I pick up.
For science!

How do you feel about wine in your cooking? I consider it a must in my black bean soup and really anything with a beef broth base. If you enjoy the flavor as a subtle note in a rich meal (rather than stabbing your taste buds directly) that would give you a great excuse to pick some of this up! :D
I never use it, but that’s mainly because I don’t make recipes that would require it. I don’t make a lot of...liquid foods, I guess you could say. And also wine has a really limited life once you uncork it, and I don’t drink it, so I’m basically buying a bottle of wine to use maybe a cup of it in a recipe, which is not really economical, so I usually just find a version of the recipe that doesn’t use wine.
When I make apple mustard, which is one of the few recipes I have that calls for white wine, I just substitute a bit of tequila and a bit of apple cider vinegar instead -- tequila keeps longer, and also I will use it faster because it’s quite nice in chicken marinade.

Do you like black teas, or does the tannin thing ruin those too?
I don’t really drink black tea. Starting in my late teens, I began to get debilitating headaches and I found that caffeine was one of the major triggers, so I cut out caffeinated tea and coffee from my diet for about fifteen years. Eventually I was diagnosed with narrowed sinus passages which would swell shut and cause sinus headaches, and caffeine was the trigger on that; once I had surgery to correct that, I could drink caffeine without consequences, but at that point I was like, why bother.
Black tea isn’t as awful as wine, but I usually load it up with honey and milk. I prefer herbal and rooibos teas because I get more of the other flavors of the tea. But again, as with the liquid foods above, I just don’t drink that much tea. I’m not much of a “hot liquid” guy most of the time. I drink like eighty ounces of ice water a day. I do make a nice pitcher of iced tea sometimes, and drink on that for a few days, but it’s usually herbal.

Do you like any alcohol? white wine doesn't really have tannins, but I for the longest time couldn't tolerate any alcohol taste in anything, which saved on the budget, I guess. I can now drink a little, but it's often not worth it, and past the first glass it's just too....alcoholy
Not really like, no. They all taste the same and burn the mouth. Beer’s much too heavy, though not as intolerable as wine, but when I do drink, which is quite rare these days, the point is to get a buzz, since the taste definitely isn’t an aspect. So I might as well buy cheap, high-proof liquor and do shots, because at least that way it’s over fast. :D
I did enjoy the vodka jello shots when Nakki and I made them last time she was here, and rum and coke or vodka and 7-up are palatable. But no, I wouldn’t say there’s a single alcohol I enjoy the flavor of.

1 package green Jello, 1 8-oz. package softened cream cheese, 1 20-oz. can crushed pineapple (well-drained), chopped walnuts (however much you like). Prepare Jello, put in fridge for 1 hour (to thicken, not set), add cream cheese, pineapple and walnuts, back in fridge until set, cut and serve.
