How could you do that?
Why did you run away like this?
It’s the worst decision of your whole life… you lost so much with this choice… I’m not sure she forgives you…
Broken family
This prompt takes place 4 years later Leo in now 5 years old and in school. In his class they are talking about Family and this make Leo very sad and upset.
“Bye bud I’ll see you later okay,” Owen said hugging the small child in front of him.
Leo gave him a small smile and walked in the classroom. Once in the classroom Leo immediately put his things away and took his seat.
“Well good morning class,” Leo’s Teacher Mrs. Gilbert says. Leo and the rest of his classmates say good morning back.
“Alright class today we’re going to talk about our families,” Mrs. Gilbert said.
Leo looked around the classroom to see all the kids smiling because they get to talk about their families. While Leo in the other hand isn’t so excited about this subject so he decides to lay his head down on the desk. He loves his mom and dad butHe really didn’t want to talk about his family.
“Alright kids we’re going to going in order so Sarah you’ll go first,” Mrs. Gilbert said calmly.
A couple of kids went and Leo just sat back and listened to how perfect and happy their families sounded and he wished for that. He couldn’t remember the time he had a perfect happy family like theirs. After a while it was finally Leo’s turn to talk about his family.
“Okay Leo it your turn,” The teacher said.
“Well my family isn’t perfect or happy like you guys. I live with my dad for the most part I have two little siblings a sister and a brother. My sister stays with her mom I see her every other week and my brother stays with our mom and his dad I see them every once in a while. My mom is happy I guess I don’t know about my dad. But when I was a baby we used to have a perfect happy family but that didn’t really last very long and my parents broke up. I wish it could be like that again,”Leo said with tears in his eyes that he was trying to hold back the best he could.
Leo quietly walked back to his seat and put his head. He let the tears roll out of his eyes but didn’t make any noise so no one would know he was crying. Through out the day Leo kept to himself now it was time to go. All of the other kids parents came earlier than Leo’s which is normal he is so used to it now. So Leo was just sitting at his desk drawing in his notebook with Amelia walked in smiling.
Amelia walked up to Leo while he was still looking down at his notebook and tapped him on the shoulder and he looked up at her with a straight face. Amelia had a confused look on her face because she was expecting a different reaction from him he usual is so smiley but he wasn’t today. She knew something was up because Leo was always so happy to see her.
“Hey Lion I decided to surprise you and come get you from school today,” Amelia said rubbing her fingers through his soft curls and calling him by his nickname she had been calling him since he was a baby. Leo nodded his head and got up to get his things. Amelia was really surprised at how he was acting that’s when Leo’s teacher walked up to her.
“Leo had a not so good day today,” Mrs.Gilabert said.
“Why what happened?” Amelia said worried cause she never seen her little happy boy like this ever.
“Well today in class we talked about our families and this subject upsetted Leo. I think you and his father should have a talk about this,” Mrs. Gilbert said.
After Leo finished gathering his thing and putting them on he went to Amelia and stood by her. She gently grabbed his hand and left out of the school.
Once they got to the car Amelia buckled Leo into his car seat then got the car. During the drive Leo didn’t say anything Amelia look back at him in the rear view mirror and he was looking out the widow silently.
“Lion I heard you and your classmates talked about your families today and this upsetted you. Why did this you upset baby?” Amelia asked and Leo just looked at her and didn’t respond.
After a couple of minutes of driver they were at Mer’s house. Amelia unbuckled Leo from his seat belt and grabbed his bag and walked to the door to unlock it. As soon as she unlocked it Leo dashed into the house. Amelia let out a sigh and sat down the couch.
While Amelia was relaxing on the couch Maggie walked through the front door. Amelia quickly popped up and smiled at Maggie not a happy smile but a more disappointed one. Maggie took off her jacket and hung it up then went to go take a seat next to Amelia.
“What’s wrong I can see it all over your face,” Maggie said in a comforting voice.
“It’s Leo he had a bad day at school they were talking about their families today and this subject really upsetted him and he wouldn’t tell me why nor will he talk to me at all and I don’t know what to do,” Amelia sighed and rubbed her hand down her face.
“I don’t know what to say but how about I try talking to him? And you try talking to his father about this?” Maggie said and Amelia nodded her head.
“Where is he?” Maggie asked getting up.
“He’s upstairs probably with bailey,” Amelia said.
After an hour Maggie walked back downstairs and sat next to Amelia.
“I talked to him about what made him upset today but he doesn’t want me to tell you because he doesn’t want to hurt your or Owen’s feeelings,” Maggie said put her hand on Amelia’s shoulder.
“How about you go upstairs and try talking to him again,” Maggie said giving Amelia a comforting look.
Amelia nervousnessly got up from where she was sitting and walked upstairs to where Leo was. He was sitting in Amelia’s bed hugging his stuffed dog her and Owen had bought him when he was a baby. He had head behind the dog so she couldn’t see his face. She calmly walked over to the bed and took a seat next to him. She softly placed her hand on his back but he didn’t move at all. So Amelia picked him up and placed him in her lap like she always used to do. She softly ran her fingers through his curls and swayed back and forth slowly.
“Leo can we please talk about what upset you today in class? I would really like to know I promise me or your father won’t be upset.” Amelia said rubbing his back Leo slowly lifted his head and looked at Amelia but still didn’t say anything.
“You know I love you so much Lion please talk to me,” Amelia pled once again.
Leo finally decided to her what upsetted him today. Leo explained to her how all the kids in his school had these perfect happy families and he didn’t. He told her he felt sad that he barely get to see her anymore. He told everything about he felt about their family situation.Amelia frowned she didn’t know Leo felt like that and felt sad that he felt that way.
“Lion why haven’t you told this is how you felt? We never want you to feel like this. I promise mommy and your daddy will fix it,” Amelia said hugging him tight.
After a couple hours Amelia was laying in the bed with Leo asleep in her arms. She softly laid him under the covers and slowly slid out of the bed. Amelia slowly left out the room and closed the door quietly. She quickly grabbed her to call Owen. She called Owen after the third ring Owen picked up the phone.
“Hello Amelia I’m still at work I come get Leo as soon as I get off,” Owen spoke tiredly.
“No O I didn’t call about that I’m calling to tell you about Leo’s day at school,” Amelia said.
“What happened is he okay?,” Owen said panicking.
“He is okay now but he got really upset at school today when they were talking about their families. I think I should get Leo every other week like you get Alison because he feels like every since we have kids with other people we forgot about him and he didn’t even get to enjoy us long enough,” Amelia said sadly.
“I just want him to be happy. He never knew he felt like that I knew he missed you but I never thought about how everything changed so quickly would affect him in the long run.” Owen said.
Sorry guys I haven’t posted in a while here’s a story I been thinking about writing for a while because everything Krista has done. I don’t how long I’ll keep this up cause I want to rewrite it. And sorry for any spelling errors I did this quickly
Alone.
A/N: this isn’t happy like I was planning a few weeks ago, but I’ve been in a sad funk, I hope you guys like it anyways.

Dreams, she had them so often lately and it seemed she remembered every single one. What else could she do? It was the only time that she was with her family any longer. Owen didn’t love her, that she’d come to terms with, but no matter what she told Teddy? She wasn’t over him, and she didn’t think she would be, ever. Which was why she did the right thing and ended things with Link, no matter how sweet he was, she just couldn’t do it. I’ve seen what’s out there, alone is better, maybe she’d really convinced herself of that this time? Either way, after putting Leo down, she’d found herself resting on the couch, dreams filling her head.
“Mommy! You gotta come see what Daddy found, a good stick!” Dream Amelia found her brow crinkling, confusion resting on her features at the mention of a stick. Of course, as an adult, she so didn’t get the big deal with a stick but Leo? He could find anything interesting, and just that caused a smile to form on her features. “Just a minute, baby. I don’t have shoes on, and I’m trying to load the dishwasher!” This wasn’t her, but apparently dream Amelia loved doing the dishes, who knew what was up with her maybe another tumor or something. Still, she went through the motions, closing the dishwasher and pressing the button before slipping on flats from the backdoor. It was like the world was disappearing already as soon as she stepped out onto the back deck, it was all growing fuzzy, and Leo was falling though he had nowhere to go. “Owen! Stay there, keep Leo there. I’m coming!” But before she could move a step, the invisible barrier finally gone, the man of her dreams had gone too. Her baby, her Owen, they were both gone. “Owen! Please come back, please. Don’t leave me again! Owen pl - ” Back she was to reality, eyes popping open as someone shook her shoulder, a gasp leaving her. Sometimes she talked in her sleep, and as her ex kneeled next to the couch, she hoped she hadn’t said his name out loud. Forcing the shock off her features, Amelia blinked sleepily before realizing she had to say something before he mentioned it. “How’s the baby?”
The smile on his features, bright like he’d never looked happier, had her heart breaking in her chest. There was nothing that that she wanted to happen to the child, she wouldn’t wish that on anyone but still knowing how happy he was without her? It stung, so without a thought she pushed the blanket off her lap and moving to stand up. “She’s good, her and Teddy are sleeping. I figured I should come check on Leo, his fever was bound to cause some troubles, I wanted to give you a bit of a break.” His voice sweet like sugar, and all she wants to do is scream ; You should’ve given me a break nine months ago! You should’ve kept it in your pants and none of this would’ve happened, but she doesn’t say anything, instead she smiles at him even though her eyes water. It’s all she can do to turn around toward the hallway as he stands up to his full height. “That’s good, thanks. I uh, should go check on Leo before I go home. I can come back in the morning?” Not waiting for an answer, the brunette makes her way to her sons room even though it wasn’t official and simply stared at him for a few moments, the silence and the hum of his wind machine were the only things to be heard. She really did love him, but it only took a few moments before she realized she probably shouldn’t overstay her welcome when Owen was actually here and leaned to press a kiss to the baby’s still slightly warm head before she left the room again, reaching for her jacket on the back of the couch until Owen’s voice interrupted her. “Are you hungry?” Furrowed brows as she whipped around to face him, head shaking. “Oh, uh no… it’s late. You should get some sleep, you’ve got a baby and a girlfriend to see in the morning. I’ll just grab something on the way home. Thanks though.” “Teddy isn’t my girlfriend, Amelia. Nothing’s going to happen there.” A sigh, soft smile before she stepped forward, her arms wrapping around him in congratulations. They had no reason to be enemies, they had Leo to raise, no matter what they felt for each other, they could be friends. “Don’t be an idiot. Congratulations, Owen.” He could say it a million times and she still wouldn’t believe him and that was part of the problem. “I’m so happy for you.” A lie, but still the neurosurgeon smiled, pulling away from him with a kiss to his cheek. For a moment his hand gripped hers but eventually she tugged it away and turned toward the door, feet dragging her. “Amelia? What were you dreaming about? You looked happy.” Head turned and she shook her head, an almost bitter laugh escaping. How she hated that she couldn’t keep up the act.
“It doesn’t matter, it wouldn’t ever come true anyways. Get some rest Owen, I’ll see you tomorrow.” As she left, door closing behind her, Amelia sniffled.
Alone was better. Painful but better.
Simple Ch. 1
Seattle was carrying on its stereotypical behavior with the nonstop rain. Owen hated having to drive in torrential downpour so late at night but another day at work got away from him with a steady flow of traumas. By the time he parked in the driveway, the clock on his dashboard read 10:28. Maybe his wife would still be up to see him.Â
With his keys and bag hung up on the hooks by the front door, Owen quietly walked through the entryway and into their living room to see what Amelia was up to. Part of him was disappointed to see she was asleep but he couldn’t help but smile when he saw baby Abel still latched to his mother’s breast, both of them contently asleep. He was a miracle no doubt. Born with Down Syndrome and ASD, he had undergone heart surgery at 4 days old to correct the hole in his heart. However he flatlined twice during the procedure which shook the Hunt family to their core.Â
In typical Grey-Sloan surgeon fashion, Amelia and Owen had been up in the surgical theater watching as none other than Sam Bennett operated on their newborn so they witnessed their son come back from the brink of death twice. Amelia decided right then that she would be taking an extended maternity leave. Abel would be immunocompromised more than typical babies with his heart issues, and he already had 2 school aged siblings and 2 parents that worked inside a hospital to provide plenty germs. Owen on the other hand was so bothered by what happened, he didn’t want to think about it ever again. In return, he buried himself in work so he hadn’t been home much the past month other than his one off day he’d take.Â
When Owen leaned in to unlatch Abel to move him to the bassinet in their bedroom, he took a moment to admire Amelia’s beauty. However the longer he looked, the more he noticed. Her cheek bones were more prominent, her collarbone was even more noticeable, and even her ring looked a bit loose on her finger. She was already a petite woman so her apparent weight loss didn’t sit right with Owen.Â
He quickly moved Abel off of Amelia which only startled her awake.Â
“What the hell?”
“It’s just me. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“He was sleeping. We were fine.”
“I know but you can’t sleep in the recliner all night. Let’s go to bed. It’s coming close to 11 o clock.”
Amelia was definitely drowsy but was happy to settle in their bed. She wasn’t used to Owen being around anymore. They hadn’t really discussed it which in the long run would only worsen whatever riff they had, but she didn’t know what to say to him anymore. He just wasn’t around. Instead of focusing solely on their newborn son, she also had to split herself for the older three. Flynn had baseball and Bella was in gymnastics. Between two school kids, their sports, a very clingy one and a half year old, and their specially abled baby, both of which she was still nursing, there was no time for herself. She didn’t have Owen around to help offset the heavy load that was their life and honestly she didn’t have it in herself to fight with him about it. Amelia was spread as thin as possible and it showed. The house wasn’t trashed, but it was messier than they usually kept it. She felt that if she could keep the four kids alive, fed, and on time for school and sports each day, that was enough. Anything else could wait for another day.Â
“Well, good night. I hope the kids behaved for you.”
Amelia hugged into her pillow and not Owen like she normally liked to.Â
“They were great. Flynn and Bella are great helpers. He has a baseball game tomorrow at noon but don’t worry, he already knows Dad will probably be at work. Bella mastered her back handspring tonight so she’s really excited about that. Rosie is cutting all four molars at the same time so she is miserable.”
“What about Abe?”
“He’s good. He’s as strong as ever. Not at all scary.”
Owen shook his head at the very intentional dig she threw at him. While she didn’t care to argue, she would make it known how much she hated that he willingly chose to stay away.Â
“I’m not scared of my own son, Amelia.”
“Really? When was the last time you held him for more than 5 minutes? I mean hold him just to admire him, not just because I need to brush my teeth and hair. They’re only a baby once.”
“I saw the monitor both times his heart stopped. It haunts me. I’ve doubted my ability as a parent ever since that day. I wish I could forget that that happened, but I can’t. Instead I save lives. I focus on that.”
“I was there too! You weren’t the only one. Ya know, I would’ve never done what you did. Then again, I was never given that option. You have three other kids too. They miss their dad. Sam knew what he was doing in the surgery too. Abel is strong and he made it. We clearly aren’t on the same page but just know I’m done covering you with the kids. Flynn and Bella are both old enough to understand what is going on. They will remember when you weren’t around. If you can live with yourself knowing that, okay. I am so exhausted day in and day out. So do what you want but they know Dad has no true reason to always be gone.”
Not another single word was spoken from either of them. Owen didn’t like knowing how much he was impacting his kids. Apparently he hadn’t thought too much into it until now.Â
.
Amelia was woken up just after 8 a.m by Bellamy climbing in bed with her.Â
“Mama, Daddy is cooking pancakes and bacon for breakfast. Flynn is helping squeeze oranges for orange juice. Daddy put Rosie in her highchair with some banana and the baby is sleeping.”
“Oh thank you for coming to see me. Good morning my sweets.”
“Daddy isn’t working today?”
“It’s supposed to be his weekend off so he shouldn’t...”
Bellamy’s face lit up but Amelia didn’t want her to be disappointed in case he elected to go in.
“... but if he gets paged, then he will have no choice but to go. Mama and Daddy save lives.”
“And if you and Daddy are here, there are people that may not make it.”
“Yes but we love you all the same.”
Bellamy curled up to her mom’s side, basking in the rare moment of being the only one with Amelia.Â
“Mama, can we do something fun today? Like going to the aquarium? I want to see the otters again like we did on my field trip.”
Amelia kissed the top of her daughter’s head, taking a second to breathe in the sweet scent of Bella’s strawberry shampoo.Â
“Your brother has a baseball game at noon but we can go tomorrow if everyone behaves today. Do you still want to spend the night with Uncle Andrew and Aunt Maggie?”
“Yes please! They let me help give Emma and Evan their baths at night. It’s so much fun. Will Daddy come to the aquarium on Sunday?”
“I don’t know, sweets. You’d have to ask him.” Amelia laid there a little bit long with her oldest daughter until she heard her youngest start to fuss on his baby monitor.
“Bella, go see Dad. I’m going to feed Abel then I’ll come eat breakfast with everyone.” “Okay mommy! I love you very much.”
“Love you too sweet girl.”
.
By the time the older kids were dropped off with their aunt, uncle, and twin one year old cousins by Owen, Amelia had Rosalie and Abel nursed to sleep for their mid-afternoon naps. Shockingly he had been at home with her and the kids all morning and afternoon. Now she was uncertain of what to do. Amelia wasn’t used to his undivided attention since typically the kids were running circles around them or the whole house was asleep by the time Owen got home at night.
Owen carefully sat down beside Amelia on the couch. “Babe, can we talk about last night?”
“What about it?”
Owen ran his fingers through his tousled curls. This wasn’t going to be easy for him but he could only blame himself.
“There’s no excuse for my absence. I have let my wife down and all of my kids. Sorry won’t suffice, I know. I am just going to work on being here. Seeing you last night with Abel still latched onto you and you both fully asleep, looking like a pair of angels, I noticed you have even lost enough weight for your wedding rings to not fit properly anymore. If there’s no one here to help you, you won’t have time to get proper rest or eat meals that isn’t pb&j and goldfish. That’s my fault and I hate myself for it. I have two weeks left of paternity leave that I haven’t used since I went back to work 2 weeks after Abe was born. I called Bailey on the drive home to let her know I’m using those two weeks effective tomorrow.”
“But why? You have been so happy since you went back to work…”
“Absolutely not. I’ve just kept busy. I let my entire family down and now I need to redeem myself. I love you so much Amelia. I love you, Flynn, Bella, Rosie, and baby Abel more than anything. I’m also going to make sure to bond with Abel has much as I can these next two weeks.”
Owen finished his long winded statement to see Amelia’s eyes filled with tears. “Owen, you have no idea how long I’ve been waiting to hear you say something like that.”
She hugged into his side and was happy to have him with her now. “It’s true. I promise. I’ll be right here with you. I’m all yours for two weeks straight.” “I love you. This doesn’t fix everything but it’s a good start.”
“I love you too. I know it’s not gonna get back to normal overnight but we can take it day by day together with the kids.”

A Mother’s Forgivness
Hi! Thank you to the anon that recently reminded me to post this fic that I wrote a while ago. Please enjoy this random one-shot I thought of one night while rewatching the episode where Carolyn visited Derek in Seattle. I’m sorry for taking so long to post this. Please enjoy :)
Synopsis: Just as Amelia has found a steady pace in her life with her new family she’s created with her boyfriend and their baby on the way, Amelia’s mother unexpectedly visits Grey Sloan for a long-awaited reunion, in hopes at a second chance.
______________________________________________
Over the past several months of having a toddler in their home, Amelia and Owen found a steady routine from morning to night. The weekends were slightly altered but always remained a constant. Owen dressed and fed Leo while Amelia made breakfast for their family after putting a minimal amount of makeup on her already clear face.
Finishing their morning routine after a dreadful night of a teething battle, Amelia carried and strapped Leo into his car seat in the back of the vehicle as he held on tightly to his stuffed giraffe. Before closing the back door, Amelia placed a warm kiss on his cheek and sat in the front passenger’s seat beside Owen. The trauma surgeon released a sigh he was unaware of holding as he watched his girlfriend shut her tired eyes and began to pull out of their driveway.
_______________________ Having her arm linked in Owen’s muscular arm as they made their way into Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital’s entrance together, Amelia immediately halted  in her position, as soon as she noticed her sisters speaking with a familiar older woman.
“Mia?” The trauma surgeon questioned her after he noticed a sudden shift in the young neurosurgeon’s facial expression change from overjoyed to paranoid. Before he was aware, Amelia removed Leo from Owen’s arms.
“I’m gonna take Leo to daycare. Don’t forget about our ultrasound in a few hours.” Amelia said to Owen before she abruptly walked away towards the hospital’s daycare with her hand on the small child’s back.
“Amelia!” He worriedly called out to Amelia as he started to chase after her before the older woman along with Maggie and Meredith walked towards his direction.
“Do you two ever answer your damn phones? I tried calling the both of you five times!” The general surgeon asked Owen after attempting to bring his attention onto her as his mind stayed preoccupied on what made Amelia run with Leo.
“Leo had a rough night and Ame- Mrs. Shepherd?” Owen asked in shock upon noticing his mother in law, finally placing the puzzle pieces together.
“And hello to you, Major Hunt.”
“I’m sorry, Mrs. Shepherd. But if you excuse me I have to get to work.” The trauma surgeon lied to Carolyn before he walked towards the emergency department, hoping to find Amelia along the way.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As she waited for the ultrasound technician to arrive in the silent room, Amelia began to toy with the hem of her brown cardigan, growing more anxious and more anxious as the minutes passed by. Glancing up for a moment, Owen suddenly noticed the constant uneasiness from his girlfriend and tore himself from the Seattle magazine
“I’m right here.” Owen calmly said to Amelia as giant tears began to spring in her eyes after he placed his strong hand into hers. Finding the only comfort for her anxiety to stare at Owen’s lake blue eyes, the young neurosurgeon was not aware of the technician requesting for her to lift her grey shirt.
“Okay Amelia, this might feel a little cold.” Ashley, the technician explained to the brunette before she immediately turned her head as cold gel touched her lower abdomen, suddenly the world around her began to move in slow motion and everything around her became silent. Half an hour passed by until Amelia felt Owen squeeze her hand while the technician carefully wiped off her stomach. Amelia touched the trauma surgeon’s face and noticed his wet stained cheeks from crying, he tilted his head at her touch.
“Our baby is okay?” The brunette fearfully asked Owen as tears continuously streamed down her face, attempting to read her boyfriend’s soft expression.
“Our baby is incredible.” Owen said to Amelia before he walked over to the patient bed where Amelia laid with her exposed and tiny stomach to passionately kiss her.
____________________________________________________
Coming home later than she expected from an emergency craniotomy, Amelia unlocked the door to her home where Leo greeted her with a smile on his face and a yellow toy car in his hands. The neurosurgeon picked up the small boy and planted a giant wet kiss on his cheek before she walked into the kitchen, where Owen pounded out fresh made pizza dough onto the counter.
“I’m sorry I am late. Halfway into the surgery, Tom had to take over because I wasn’t feeling well.” She explained to Owen, after he looked up and gently kissed her on the lips. He quickly began to grow concerned at her comment before his thoughts were cut off by the voice coming from the back of the house.
“I hope I’m not interrupting anything too important, Major Hunt, but the soap in your bathroom is very low and you might want to buy some more your next time shopping.” Carolyn told her son in law before she stopped and noticed her daughter standing in the kitchen, standing just as shocked as she was.
“What are you doing in my home?” The younger Shepherd woman flatley asked her mother, before Carolyn had the chance to utter another comment.
“Meredith informed me about Bailey’s kindergarten graduation quickly approaching and I figured he would want to see his grandm-”
“What about when Zola graduated from kindergarten? You made a great effort to see her graduate. How about after Ellis was born?” Amelia questioned Carolyn after she handed Leo to Owen to wipe her oddly wet forehead.
“Or even better; HOW ABOUT THE DAY THAT I GOT MARRIED?! There is no worse feeling in the world than finding out on what was supposed to be one of the happiest freaking days of my life, that not EVEN MY MOTHER was going to be at my wedding!” The brunette shouted at her mother with everything inside of her before the small toddler in Owen’s arms starting to cry at the loud shouting in the room.
“Amy, I am so sorry, I can explia-” Carolyn started to explain before Amelia ran towards the master bedroom with Owen running right behind her after placing Leo down on the ground to allow the boy to return to playing with his toy car.
Several minutes after waiting for the couple to return from wherever they ran off together, Carolyn watched Leo joyfully play before she noticed that the trauma surgeon was alone. With an angry expression remaining on his face, Owen walked past his son and opened the front door. He watched his mother in law grow confused until he attempted to calmed down.
“You need to leave.”
“Pardon me, Major Hunt?” The older Shepherd questioned Owen.
“You need to leave, and please never come back.” He explained to her after noticed the brunette listening from afar in the hallway, Carolyn looked down at the small boy and later the trauma surgeon before she walked out the door.
Hearing the door shut, Â Amelia carefully walked over to Owen before he wrapped his giant arms around her delicate frame as a silent sob escaped from her mouth, remembering that the family she built with this man was the only family she needed.
Thank you so much for reading, sorry if it was long! I am accepting prompts, so if you would like to send me a request, please feel free! :)
My Boys Drabbles: Just a Feeling (Part 3)
Hey guys, like promised here goes part three. Owen is finally face to face to with ex again. Sorry about taking so long to post it!Â
Previous chapters are HERE.
My Boys Drabbles – Just a Feeling (Part Three)
“Beth. It’s really you.”
Owen took his time recovering from the shock of unexpectedly bumping into his ex-fiancé. Seeing her after all those years was already surprising enough, but to find out she now taught his youngest sons felt like his past had decided to suddenly play all kinds of tricky games with him.
Beth stood up with a dignified expression on her face that seemed much more neutral and contained than Owen could ever associate with her. And somewhere in between processing all those thoughts and impressions, his mind also registered that while he felt absolutely stunned to be facing her, the teacher on the other hand didn’t seem really that surprised to casually run into him after over a decade of not seeing each other.
When met by nothing other than a quick inspection, Owen felt compelled to break the uncomfortable silence. In the past, he’d usually had a hard time getting Beth to stop talking and not the other way around.
“I... I had no idea you were a teacher here,” he confessed looking into her eyes and trying to understand what her distant expression meant. From what he could remember, Beth had always been receptive and kind whenever they saw each other after months apart and even though everything was different now, her silence was still strange.
Owen couldn’t quite expect her to smile and excitedly greet him now, but her total lack of reaction confused him. He knew years had passed and people grew and changed, but the image he’d carried of Beth during all that time had been the one of an idealistic, excited, naive young woman who was perhaps too optimistic and too much of a dreamer for her own good. Nonetheless, despite her lack of maturity, Beth had always had a good, decent heart. So it felt odd for him to face her right now and be met with an indifferent expression rather than a smile.
“I worked in Medina Elementary. It wasn’t until very recently that I took a position here,” she explained with a more polite approach.
“That’s good,” Owen swallowed hard, unsure of what else to say. He’d never really imagined what it would be like seeing her after so many years but if he had, his mind probably would have come up with something a lot different from what he was experiencing. “I hope you like the new job.”
“I do,” Beth said matter-of-factly.
“This is a great school,” Owen added, hoping the awkwardness of their interaction wouldn’t last very long.
“Yes, it is.”
The surgeon nodded, suddenly met by the uncomfortable silence again.
“It might be just an impression, but...” his voice trailed off as he looked for the best way to phrase what was conflicting him. “I kind of have the feeling that I am completely surprised to see you but you don’t look at all that surprised to see me.”
Dream a Little Dream of Me
A/N: Here’s a short story (a drabble?) on last week’s finale, another one initially written on my phone, at night (I swear I'll post something of actual good quality soon). This picks up at the Omelia house right after the Jolex wedding. In this universe, there’s no pregnant Teddy. It’s just some good old, cliché, Omelia fluff for all those upset with the actual finale ending. Stay positive my dudes! I’m also planning a longer finale fic where there is a pregnant Teddy, but Owen’s not the father (cause Teddy would have to be like seven months pregnant now? Which she did NOT look like), but not sure when I’ll be able to finish that one. I never really watched any episodes with Teddy (apart from those from season 14), so I need to do some research to write her character. For now, enjoy this!
Side note, I wrote this while listening to Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong songs, especially Dream a Little Dream of Me (which is the song mentioned in the fic). Listening to that one will def enhance the feel I’m aiming for here!Â

“I am beat,” Amelia groans as she throws herself down onto the couch, her heeled feet dangling off the side. “Who knew weddings could be so taxing. Was ours this crazy?”. As soon as the words left her mouth, however, she started laughing. “Don’t answer that, ours was probably worse”.
Owen chuckled. He’d been heating up some waffles left over from breakfast when his ex-wife returned from putting his foster son to bed. Leo had fallen asleep as soon as they’d put him in his car seat, and judging by how he hadn’t even woken up when they’d moved him from the car to the house, he must have been really exhausted. “How’s Betty?”
“She helped me put Leo in his crib and then went to bed herself. She’s had a long day. I think she’s more bothered by her parents not showing up this morning than she’s letting on”.
“I thought you said you hadn’t told her you invited them?” He grabbed the plate of now warm waffles and brought them over to where Amelia was sprawled across the entire length of the couch. She graciously lifted her feet, however, to allow him to slip underneath, before somewhat less graciously dropping them back across his lap.
