OM Characters Experience Sweeney Todd - The Brothers
Lucifer : Nothing's gonna harm you. Not while I'm around...
If it has music in it, with solid instrumental elements, and MC likes it? Yes of course he wants to go. Make sure the seats are good because this man does not do back of the theater. One, he's old and already needs glasses half the time. Two, The Avatar Of Pride will not settle for less than he is worth (which by extension is what MC is worth). Telling him that it is a gothic horror musical only sweetens the already decadent pot that is a one on one date with MC surrounded by theater atmosphere. He doesn't want the plot spoiled, so he specifies a lack of desire to know more details and states he trusts MC with the planning. Don't worry, he is hardly worried about pulling out his wallet for dinner afterwards no matter where they choose.
He loved this. Not quite on a Barbatos level, it certainly isn't his all time favorite, but he found it refreshing and emotionally complex. Could discuss every aspect of the story, the morality, and if actions were justified or not for hours. In fact, that is probably a huge chunk of after show dinner convo. 'Not While I'm Around' is his favorite song, something he found himself relating to personally. Hard for him to nail down a favorite character since he thinks they're all worth being interested in for their own reasons. Proud owner of the pie mug which he uses every single morning for his coffee. Straight up pretends there are no other cups in the house and he must use this one.
Belphie : Try the priest.
Nobody told him this kind of musical was an option before now and how dare MC keep this from him. When learning there is both a movie and a live version he requested to watch the movie first so he could compare the differences between the two, as he is sure there will be a decent amount of them to compare. This little cutie bundled up like a blanket caterpillar and yet managed to enjoy watching the whole movie. His excitement the day of seeing the live show was almost a physical thing with how heavy it permeated his surroundings. For once he was dragging MC somewhere, practically staring at his watch as it got close to time for them to leave. He bought merch before the show, and you best believe he got every clothing item they offered plus a poster for the wall. This is a lifetime fan in the making.
When the live show is finished, he states that while the movie is good nothing can replace the in person experience. 'A Little Priest' is his favorite song and he finds this fact to be just a bit funny given his demonic existence. Sleeps goooood once home, and maybe on the way home tucked into MC. That was a lot of high-energy awake time for him, he probably needs it. Maybe let him sleep it off.
Asmo : I'll try anything once~
Unfortunately for Asmo, the "I'll try anything once" motto did him dirty this time. To be fair, MC did try to warn him this was maybe not for him. The thought of letting any of his brothers get the chance to scoop up the ticket in place of him when MC came all the way to see if he might want to go first? Did not sit well with him. Besides, variety in his posts was important for his fans. Absolutely was not into it despite trying to grin and bear it since this was a bed he made for himself. Does not want to be a wet blanket (because ew) but faking it has never been Asmo's style and never will be.
Music was fine, but was much too dark for the poor guy and he for sure spent the whole time stressed. If he had to choose a favorite song it was probably 'Johanna', was really only invested in the romantic element and not a single other part. Do not get this poor guy merch he is not interested in remembering he saw this and for sure treat him to a good picture worthy meal and maybe a stop by one of the human makeup stores and that should patch up his mood just fine.
Satan : Poppin WHAT into pies?
Never blindly agrees to anything, so always wants the premise of the musical explained to him ahead of time as fully as possible so he may make an informed decision. Isn't typically interested in things that contain gore, but decides to see it out of curiosity for how this kind of concept would be done on a stage more than anything. Dresses up for theater without question by the way. Takes the cat pie mention as a personal offense and cries about it but in a ragey sad kind of way (though actively tries to hide it because he knows it's dramatic for fiction). Just could not tolerate even the mention of such an atrocity to the best creatures on the whole world.
Lovette is his favorite character by the end of the show, partially because she doesn't subscribe to the cat pies and partially for her dedication to the Sweeney Todd cause. That girl may not be right, but he likes the idea of such an obsession in his fiction. 'By The Sea' was his favorite song, which MC could have guessed by the way he talks about his newly selected favorite character. He bought any merch in book format they had, and uses the playbill as a bookmark in his every day life like always.
Mammon : Pfft. As if The Great Mammon would be scared of some silly play!
This would low-key be the funniest experience of MC's whole career if Mammon agrees to go. Which he would. That tough guy act is his own worst enemy when paired with the desire to continue being MC's number one choice so naturally even knowing all the information he still swallows hard and agrees to go. Covers his eyes every time someone is becoming a corpse as subtly as possible (so not subtly at all). Gets a little pale if he thinks too hard about the concept of consuming a pie with a human in it. Liked Toby because the character kind of reminds him of Luke, which is really sweet. Will one hundred percent deny being scared at any point if MC were to try and point it out.
'Johanna' is his favorite song because he is a hopeless secret romantic. Known to be caught humming this when he thinks he is alone for the next month. Will deny it as well. Got himself a magnet and bought MC whatever they wanted in order to repair his image but also because he always does such a thing. Doesn't look at ground meat the same for the next few weeks.
Beel : The worst pies in London???
This gentle giant would follow MC anywhere, and today's anywhere happens to be a theater in which Sweeney Todd is performed. While he doesn't care for horror himself, if this kind of thing is what MC prefers he will have an easier time dealing with it for their sake than others in his family who dislike horror would. Settles in with his arm over the back of MC's seat in hopes of portraying ease, but its mainly so if he feels stressed he can squeeze the seat and alert nobody to his discomfort. Admittedly finds the whole thing less bothersome than he thought he would, and by the end is fully invested into the story. Chooses Anthony as his favorite because he did what nobody else managed and protected someone who deserved it (directly) by getting Johanna out of this disaster-fest.
Favorite song is 'The Worst Pies In London' because he believes this is false advertising and it still looks pretty yummy. We don't always take food advice from the guy who consumes furniture canonically and hadn't eaten before they left for the show. Asked the poor merch seller if they happened to have any of the pies from Lovette, did not like it when the seller laughed like it was a joke. Spent the rest of the night theorizing about what the pies could have tasted like and how delicious he was sure they were.
Levi : Ground up p-people?!
Could not be convinced to go to the live show. May be convinced to watch the movie at home and will hide his eyes at any parts he finds even remotely uncomfortable without remorse. Asks to be explained what is happening if he does cover his eyes. HATES the concept of human pies and it does make him avoid any semblance of ground meat for a few months until the image fades from his brain and allows him to exist normally again. No, he doesn't want merch of the show he actually would prefer if MC never brought it up again. Does not have a favorite character, felt threatened by everyone.
'Pirelli's Miracle Elixir' enthusiast. Simply found it jammy and cannot get it out of his head. It's also one of the few parts he was able to watch in full, though he was ready at any moment to cover his eyes once more. Probably shouldn't have convinced him this was worth watching. Doesn't get how MC could like this musical so much.
Part 2 as promised. I had fun and I hope you all did too. Who knows what I will do next. I don't. That's the fun part of writing on vibes in the middle of the night lol. - UA
