Film Photography.

My Olympus OM10. In excellent condition. Was like new til I dropped it in London last year. It has a very slight ding on one of the metal corners. Hasn't affected the operation at all. A plastic camera would have cracked or smashed!

I have all Zuiko lenses for it. A 28mm f/3.5, 50 mm 1.8 and a 135mm 3.5. All in excellent condition. Somewhere I have a 28mm 2.8 Vivitar which in fact is excellent. It was primarily made initially by Kino Optical (Kiron), and Komine. If you're interested, the Kiron versions have serials 22xxxxx, the Komine versions have serial numbers 28xxxxx.

I'm sure I have an 80-200mm f4 somewhere also but I've not seen those two lenses for years. Probably in the loft somewhere.

The thing that really stands out with the OM10 is how compact it is. I'll post some pics another time of the OM10 next to my Sony a6300 so you can see just how compact it is for an SLR. Powerful and compact cameras are what Olympus have always been about and that continues to this day.

You can get a good condition OM10 with a Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lens these days for about £85-100. Worth it as well. The build quality is amazing even by today's standards.

It's super easy to use and it's aperture priority. You can buy a manual adapter to plug in the front which I have but my adapter has stopped working and I've had two of them now so I'm not bothering with another one.

Just load it up with film and concentrate on depth of field effect by selecting the right aperture and in the viewfinder you'll see what shutter speed the camera is selecting. Then just get out and shoot. A joy to use.

I'm planning to shoot some nice black and white in it later this year when I can get down to London for some more street photography. Either Ilford HP5 or Kodak 400TX, or maybe Cine 800 colour which I like the look of. Or maybe a roll of each if I'm feeling really flush!

So, if your a previous film shooter that wants to go back to it, or a newbie to film Photography as you've only ever known digital, this camera is a perfect inexpensive way to get into/back into it.

I've still got my Mamiya 645 Pro by the way, which I plan to shoot with a pal later this year. That's another amazing piece of kit.

There's still something great about film for me and I doubt it will ever go away. I've never managed to replicate it in digital.

I'm considering buying a Fujifilm x100F for the film simulations for my street photography and just travelling with that and it's fixed 35mm lens. The convenience of digital with the great analogue look of film.
