I came across the brand Sukin Organics on a random friend’s Facebook post. The article was talking about the items that you should buy before you return home from Australia. Sukin Organics’ products were one of the top ten items. So, I decided to check google it and was quite fascinated on what I had read. Sukin promised high quality botanical extracts and essential oils, carefully selected to bring out the best in your skin and hair. They are currently Australia’s best selling natural skincare brand and have their products sold in over 10 countries across the globe. I was excited to try the brand out and researched where to get it. Anddd.. I finally got my hands on them! 

I have very oily skin combined with acne and the Sukin Oil Balancing range states that it targets oil control and blemish prevention. The star ingredient of the oil balancing range is CHARCOAL. Charcoal benefits the skin by drawing oil, dirt and other harmful substances from clogged pores due to its absorption powers. It is also proven to absorb thousands of times its own mass in harmful substances, which is why it is so popular in skincare products.

So, here’s my experience and honest thoughts on the products purchased!

I purchased the following products: 

1. Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser 2. Sukin Oil Balancing Clarifying Facial Tonic 3. Sukin Oil Balancing Mattifying Moisturiser 4. Sukin Oil Balancing Anti Pollution Facial Masque

1. Foaming Facial Cleanser

First Impressions: 

Smell - Mandarin orange Texture & Colour - Very light, colourless, almost water like consistency

Verdict: 

Do not let the name fool you. It does not foam that much, compared to commercial cleansers. So do not expect plenty of foam, although it’s name is ‘foaming’. This is not a cream cleanser. The product cleanses alright if you have minimal oil and sweat prior to cleansing. You get the fresh feeling due to the mandarin orange smell. However, if you were to have heavy oil build up/dirt/sweat/make up on and used this cleanser, you would have to double cleanse to get a thorough clean. Personally I would purchase this cleanser again as it is suitable for when I needed a light cleanse or to freshen up. As for my acne, although some reviews stated that it helped tone theirs down, it did not help with mine at all. Neither did it make it worse. Therefore, the sole reason for repurchasing would be as a light cleanser and due to its organic nature. 

2. Oil Balancing Clarifying Facial Tonic

First Impressions:

Smell - Holy basil, herby smell Texture & Colour - Water like consistency, colourless, similar to commercial toners. Glides on skin perfectly (applied using cotton pads) and absorbs quickly. Skin feels cool after applying

Verdict: 

Would definitely repurchase as it is worth the money. It does its job of toning perfectly and is an investment. Only a few drops are needed to cover the entire face. It being organic is definitely a plus too!  

3. Oil Balancing Mattifying Facial Moisturiser

First Impressions:

Smell - Holy basil, herby smell (similar to the toner) Texture & Colour - White coloured cream with a thick creamy consistency, thicker than some commercial moisturisers. The texture of the cream feels heavy on the fingers but after applying, it just melts into the skin 

Verdict: 

The cream glides on skin smoothly and absorbs quickly. Skin feels slightly sticky after it is absorbed into the skin but not in a bad way. You only need 1/4 pump or 1/2 of a pump to cover your entire face. There is no need to press a full pump. Sometimes there is excess from that tiny pump too. When there’s balance, I use the rest to moisturise my hands. However, do not be fooled by the name ‘mattifying’. It does not mattify at all. However, it does a good job in moisturising the face. Sadly there was no improvement on the oil production and acne on my skin. It remained the same but did not make my skin any worse though. No offence to Sukin but personally I would not repurchase this moisturiser. The main factor that attracted me to this product was the word ‘mattifying’. Because it does not really mattify my skin, solely for this reason, I would skip repurchasing this. However, this does not mean it is not a good moisturiser. 

4. Oil Balancing Anti Pollution Facial Masque

First Impressions:

Smell - Holy basil, herby smell (similar to the toner and moisturiser) Texture & Colour - Grey coloured cream (due to the charcoal) with a thick creamy consistency, similar to some commercial masques. The cream feels heavy on the fingers but after applying, it smooths out quite evenly

Verdict: 

The cream glides on skin smoothly when applied. Initially after applying, my skin tingled slightly. It then subsided after a while. About 10 minutes in, my skin started to tighten and the masque turned from dark grey to light ashy grey. The masque did a good job in moisturising my face. Immediately after washing the masque off and patting dry, my skin felt cleaner and smoother. I would definitely be repurchasing this as I feel it did its job perfectly and I love the results I got. 

Overall, I was satisfied with the Sukin Organics products I purchased. I feel that it was worth the money invested and that I obtained good results. The organic ingredients used in making these products are a great plus too! I will continue to use Sukin Organics’ products in the future.
