For the first time since 1945, the Ohio State Fair will NOT be taking place this year, due to COVID-19. The State Fair is one of at least a dozen Fairs across Ohio that were canceled this year due to COVID-19.

When I first was introduced to the black and white darkroom, I was immediately drawn to the magic dreamlike qualities of Kodak's HIE High Speed Infrared B&W 35 mm film for my personal work such as my Mother Road, Route 66 project in the 1990's. Unfortunately I shot and processed my last two rolls of that film recently and it was too far fogged from age to be any good for making prints. I have been curious about the 'digital infrared' camera conversions and am now exploring new work using a converted Nikon D90. The factory installed anti-alias filter (also known as a Low Pass filter) was replaced with one that cuts off the wavelength of light at 720nM (nanometers) closer to the infrared spectrum from 700 nM - 1000nM. With this conversion, the camera sensor captures IR directly and does not need a special filter in front of the lens. Highlights From The 2019 Ohio State Fair - Day 12 of 12
“Forever Fair-tastic”! I took a couple of weeks away from producing my radio show, part-time job, and on-going job search to work as a Ticket Seller at the Ohio State Fair this year.
On the twelfth and final day of the Ohio State Fair, I said my good-byes to the few new people that I met (that survived the whole twelve days), plus visited the Camel, and saluted the B*ckeyes. There were no discounts, no daily parade (since both the Choir and Marching Band had already packed up and headed back to all four corners of the State), no re-entry, and the gates closed at 6 (to give people at least two hours to enjoy the Fair). Attendance was up only because the weather was near-perfect all 12 days of the Fair with little to no rain during those days. Ohio had a whole lot to showcase, from tourism, to agriculture, to local brews and wines, which are more meaningful in their weight than the rides, deep fried food, and the Giant Slide (which I didn’t get to do my impersonation of Dwayne Haskins’ NFL career).
The 2020 Ohio State Fair will be from July 29 to August 9, 2020.

On the penultimate day of the Ohio State Fair, it was “811 Day” (Call before you dig!). During my breaks, I went to the Kasich Hall for the last time, and even got a photo op with the Mascot Cow. After I got off (it was the last day that I hung out at the Fair after I got off, but I didn’t stay for the last Parade), I visited Santa Claus, and told him that I want Michigan to BEAT Ohio State for Christmas.

We’re in the Home Stretch. Day Ten of the Fair. During my lunch break, I saw the Ohio State Highway Patrol Band perform on the Gazebo Stage. After I got off, I hung out at the Bricker Building, and then browsed the record collection in the Pavilion. And for the last time, I watched the Parade go by the Midway (there was only one left after this).
