a  pursuit  for  true  self   /   when  the  mirror  reflects  back  at  you   (   you  do  not  see  yourself   /   only  the  clay  that  the  world  shaped  you  to  be   ).   the  smile  that  reflects  back  at  you  is  not  yours   /   the  eyes  that  hold  the  sun   (   they  are  warm   /   but  they  are  not  yours   ).   how  frightening  it  is   /   to  live  day  by  day  as  though  you  are  a  stranger  in  your  own  skin.   the  thoughts  keep  you  awake  through  the  night  life   /   just  what  could  you  have  been  if  not  for  the  life  you  were  born  into   ?   would  you  still  be  the  angel  boy  that  smiles  brightly   /  to  pierce  away  the  darkness  that  clouds  the  sky   ?   you  suppose  that  it  is  pointless  to  ask  questions  you  could  never  know  the  answers  of   /   yet  ever  still  the  thought  weighs  heavy  on  your  mind   (   was  it  simply  wrong  to  think  you  could  ever  be  meant  for  something  more   ?   ).

eyes  simply  trail  towards  the  sky   /   ah   ,   just  like  home   (   the  stars  sparkle  beautiful  in  the  night   ).   home   /   you  suppose  the  world  you  were  born  into  was  never  your  home.   yet  your  only  comfort  were  the  stars  that  never  fail  to  brighten  the  night  sky   /   they  filled  you  with  a  hope  to  never  falter   (   no  matter  what  tragedy  life  throws  your  way   /   you  would  shine  bright  no  matter  what   /   like  the  stars   ).   the  ruined  wasteland  was  not  your  home   /  for  you  truly  belonged  within  the  stars   (   that  was  home   ).   a  smile  spreads  to  your  lips   /   the  stars  dance  in  your  eyes.   the  world  around  you  is  no  more   /   just  you   &   many  stars  that  are  forever  out  of  your  reach.

however  you  have  learned  to  simply  let  the  fire  in  a  lantern  spin  without  you   /   take  back  control  of  your  reality   (   even  if  your  life  was  not  your  own   /   your  hands  can  still  hold  onto  reality   ).   you  see  shadow   /   a  hero  of  the  past.   he  sits  alone   /   bathing  in  the  light  of  the  stars.  you  think  to  yourself   /   perhaps  the  war  that  wages  in  your  mind  can  be  settled  by  some  company.   a  hesitant  first  step  is  taken   /   a  thought  that  drifts  in  your  mind  floats  like  a  cloud  in  your  mind.   it’d  be  rude  to  simply  drop  in  uninvited   /   especially  when  the  two  of  you  are  simply  not  close   (   &   yet  your  hands   /   yearn  to  know  of  another   /   your  heart  pleads   /   it  has  grown  tired  of  this  loneliness   ).

yet  he   ;   ultimate  lifeform   /   takes  action  before  you.   wordless   /   understanding.   he  simply  shifts  a  little  bit  to  make  space  for   /   you.   it’s  a  bright  smile  that  tugs  at  your  lips   /   perhaps  it  seems  a  bit  silly   (   &   yet   /   you  feel  a  joy   /   to  be  acknowledged   /   to  exist  in  a  world  never  meant  for  you   ).   simply  do  you  lay  in  the  space  created  for  you   /   filling  it  with  memories.   you  dare  not  break  the  quiet  atmosphere  between  the  two   /   though  it  is  not  one  made  by  choice   (   you  know  that  shadow  doesn’t  wish  to  connect   /   yet   ,   you  simply  wish  to  feel  real   /   to  understand  those  around  you   /   yet  you  simply  do  not  have  the  key  to  unlock  your  way  into  the  hearts  of  other   ).   unknowing  of  what  words  to  say   /   you  simply  bask  in  the  silence.
