There is a great saying that “you are only as happy as your least happy child.” For better or worse, my wife and I seem to feel, in real time, every emotion that each of our four kids is dealing with. It’s a hallmark of our generation. And when you add your own human experience to the equation, it’s easy to feel like a turtle without a shell. But on a night when you get to watch your daughter shine on stage, the way Adeline did last night, and when every one of her sisters is there rooting her on, you feel grateful to be so wide open.
