MYNAME’s Message is a legendary 숨듣명 (숨어 듣는 명곡 - a song that you feel kinda embarrassing listening to in public but secretly enjoy when alone).
I feel like posting Korean study material only makes my blog seem like a cold, rigid bot that knows only Korean. So today, let me tell you the story of my accidental trip down the memory lane after binge watching Korean BL dramas.
I recently downloaded WeTV cause I wanted watch “Cherry Blossom After Winter” (겨울 지나 벚꽃).
And since the drama is not fully out yet, I decided to watch all the Korean BL dramas they have to offer, the first one (after CBAW) was “Ryu Nobleman’s Wedding” (류선비의 혼례식).
The moment I saw Ryu Hoseon character (류호선, played by Kang Insoo), I thought he was familiar and I must have seen him somewhere. But I didn’t pay it any attention and just kept on watching the drama. Definitely not the best one out there but it was a fun experience.
I watched a few more before picking “Wish You” (위시유).
Insoo was such a great singer that I decided to look him up online cause I was so sure he was a singer. And he is! He is a member of a group called MYNAME!
(Bring back this fashion pls lmao)
And my head just automatically played their song Message cause damn I was hooked on that song when it first came out. I can’t even remember when they first debuted, and when I found out their MV was uploaded in 2011 I was shocked (and felt older than ever).
And yall bet I have been listening to this song since I found it again. I also like “Wish You”’s main song “Wish for you”, which is a wonderful duet between Insoo and Sangyi.
(Also, I also enjoy watching Insoo’s youtube channel, which is hilarious and entertaining. I just watch his video on MYNAME’s 10th anniversary and it was one of my best experiences lately.)

Ssssooooo gggooood. This golden glow Is not happiness It's the dust that you kicked on my face Before saying goodbye Oh memory Won't you speak to me? Can you show me the boat in my soul That can sail me back home Let me go You can shave me down You can clean my teeth Get me ready to meet all the people That I thought I knew But my memory Has mistaken me Can't remember the last time I felt so incredibly young So let me go And I try To leave But my bones, Just won't agree And I try, To believe You should try Set me free Let me go

Hm.
Let me tell you about the girl who's too tired to give a fuck anymore. About the girl who spent countless times crying herself to sleep. The girl who's lived in her bubble, alone, and afraid for the longest time. The girl who's parents are great people but not great parents. The father who's a liar and the mother who attempts suicide. Claiming she was just trying to keep us "safe". Keeping us safe after you spent the only money we had to survive...yeah sure that's keeping us safe alright. You drank those pills and almost died. You ended up in a "crazy" house and left me behind...all I got was a phone call wishing me happy birthday. Surprise! I was only 14...stuck at home with a broken heart and pop-tarts. At least I got pop-tarts. What a surprise indeed.

You’ve been paying visits To that hunchbacked tailor In his long-torn-down shop, Hoping to catch a glimpse Of yourself in his mirror As he sticks steel pins And makes chalk marks On a small child’s black suit Last seen with its pants Dangling from a high beam In your grandmother’s attic.
