Nick isn't home when she gets back, which isn't unusual. The envelope on top of an outfit laying out on their bed, however, is. He doesn't usually have a say in her outfits beyond complimenting them or helping her take them off later. Knowing Nick, it was the crisp, clean lines he was drawn to in this particular outfit, though it wasn't quite her style, just like everything else in their home. "Sanitized" and "institutionalized" is how Flynn would describe the bright white powerhouse woman CEO type dress in her hands. Julie would call it "corporate".

The plain brown box, a new pair of designer shoes that went along with the dress, seems more intriguing than Nick's note right now. She has to admit, she does love the crystals sprinkled across the patent white leather, but her ankles are already barking just from looking at them. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy a good pair of heels, but she knows these shoes means their plans have changed from her swanky, low-key jazz speakeasy hopes to something more…"professional". Nick's perfectly spaced, even lettering staring up at her from the page doesn't give her much to go off of, just a time and location she isn't familiar with off the top of her head.

The dress fits perfectly, of course. It shows off her legs in a way both she and Nick appreciate, but the attached capped sleeves-turned cape was going to seriously limit her options on outerwear, lending to another cape type of situation. What's with the cape? Are we going to the opera? I don't think so. A flash of pain doubles her over momentarily, a simple movie quote her mom had loved knocking the wind out of her.

The whole dress/cape situation would be fine…if it weren't for the temperatures plummeting into the negatives lately. The car will get you. You'll be fine. Suck it up for one night. Between the new shoes, the new dress' neckline, and the statement earrings he'd brought home last month, the only reasonable hairdo was piling it atop her head. He loved her hair up, loved to see the "graceful column that Roman goddesses would be jealous of". Wearing it up gave her migraines.
