Richie wasn’t much of an early riser himself, but Noah said to him that he MUST get up early for Stiles’s birthday, EVEN if he’s still a little lost as to why. He’s laughing softly at the others reaction—up until he’s being engulfed in blankets, then the giggles reach a new high as he’s fidgeting and fighting to get out. “Well you’ve gotta unwrap me!—this isn’t how this works!” He grumbles, a small pout displaying on his face that was currently squashed against Stiles’s chest.

Root had had this plan for years. It wasn’t just a plan to leave, it was a meticulously planned and exercised scheme that would lead to her independence from pretty much everyone else. Everything to make sure that when she left, she would never have to come back. 

Richie was - an accident, pretty much. They had met at the arcade, and she still doesn’t know where bickering over video games turned into them confiding in each other. The Drunk Moms Club was more than just a silly name to them. 

Which is why she stood at the train station, watching out for her friend, still torn about where she really wanted to take him along. He would learn a lot more about her than she was comfortable with. 

“I thought you were still out with Scott and Isaac.. “ Is the first thing out of STiles mouth as he sees Richie look up at him from the sofa. Scott had wanted to do some werewolf bonding, and the three were supposed to go on a hike that lasted until the night, for star gazing and such. 

He quickly takes a step back and out of the light, grimacing at the situation. “ I was - there was something I had to do - “ He mumbles, itching to just wipe the blood out of his face, but he knew that wouldnt make it better, Richie could probably smell it.

Stiles didn’t need  super hearing, to know that Richie was on his way downstairs. He had heard and seen the other move and talk in his sleep earlier, and had expected for the boy to wake up from nightmares. This was a routine by now. 

The thing was, Stiles had nightmares of his own. He often spent his nights awake on purpose to avoid them. But once every night he comes down here, making himself more coffee or getting a snack, and more often than not he would meet Richie here.
