so: woo younghwan. his english name is henry but people seldom use it. currently a twenty four year old grad student majoring in korean history. predictably, THE SCHOLAR. also works as a teaching assistant but less so for the money and more for the experience

... because he’s never wanted for money; comes from the fairly wealthy woo family, but he’s the second son of a second son and was generally given more freedom with his life due to it - accounting for his strange choice of major

grew up in england (but vacationed in korea) + attended an all-boys boarding school there. struggled a bit with his identity as a result of being, you know, pulled two different directions, but he dealt with it with the help of his friends

moved to korea full time to attend university; chose korean history because he’s always been a nerd and felt like it would be a good way to connect with his heritage. ended up loving it so much he applied directly to grad school after graduation and slipped into the life of an academic full time

sometimes feels like he’s in an odd state of arrested development because he hasn’t left school while all his friends have and woos hate falling behind the masses, but he’s good at repressing his feelings o/ 

can come off as a little bit of an arrogant, pretentious prick when you first meet him, but i promise he’s... not that bad?? not exactly a heart of gold underneath it all but he’s less uptight and more caring around his friends

which!! speaking of!! doesn’t have too many but the ones he does, he takes good care of. prefers people who can keep up with him either intellectually or provide him with something emotionally. if you don’t fall into those categories, he doesn’t have time for you (rip)

can be a homebody, not super great when it comes to going out to parties/adventures/etc unless someone forces him to join them by like. literally strong arming him 

secretly craves a little more adventure though; gets enough of a fix through travelling, but also just wants to experience more stimulus in general. isn’t actually as reluctant to participate in things as he seems

a pretty level headed, calm person in a crisis, hates indecisiveness and when people don’t listen to him (because he usually knows best), but also isn’t a big fan of taking charge? doesn’t have the charisma to be a leader

a bit of a skeptic when it comes to things of the... paranormal nature. he has a fascination with myths and urban legends and such, but more in an academic capacity. he doesn’t believe things without proof 

i’m not too great with pre-written plots and i prefer to brainstorm, but here are some connection ideas to get things going: 

an ex (m or f)? doesn’t have to be a long running relationship but it was serious enough to get to the ‘meet the parents’ stage before it ended

a best friend/partner in crime, could be completely opposite in personality or whatever but they are younghwan’s ride or die

frenemy?? nominally they’re friends but they actually function more as rivals, spar verbally, can’t stand the sight of each other, etc

fellow wealthy friend, maybe they aren’t that close but they understand each other in a special way

someone minhyun wasn’t too close with during university but they’ve gotten super friendly ever since then, or alternatively, someone minhyun was close with in university but they fell out of touch after than

looks much younger than she actually is and wants others to think of her as more mature.................but her behavior doesn’t rly help her

born to a chaebol family, but because she’s the youngest and only daughter, they don’t rly care about her

very humble and doesn’t mean to flex her money but she just likes to buy everyone gifts and spoil her friends so she rly cant help it?????

ditzy.......very ditzy and always getting lost. therefore, she’s always relying on others to help her out bc she’s incapable of doing even the simplest of things

very much afraid of everything 

not the smartest in regards to education, but she gets by as an extremely average student; graduated college with an english degree (she was taught from a very young age so she figured it’d be the most simple major for herself)

currently, she is still not working. she’s decided to travel around for the fun of experiencing other cultures— but in reality she doesn’t stray too far from metropolitan areas

while she comes back home to seoul every so often, a part of her isn’t so sure her family even notices or cares about her absence, but she just brushes off the idea, not wanting to look too deeply into it and end up hurting her own feelings :/
