Oddworldtober Day 17: Intern

Vykker’s Labs 16 has always been a…bloody place as Vyle likes to experiment a lot with new methods or ideas. The interns are all used to it after a few weeks of mopping up blood and guts.

Lenny will smuggle anything for anybody for the right trade. He's been working the rails a long ass time. Hell, he even has links at Vykkers Labs for the best Lungbusters not even sligs can get their trigger happy hands on and Lenny somehow, someway, is able to get thr lab employees just what they need in exchange.

His name is Lou. He's thankfully a big fan of Pelvis' music. But he still has a love hate relationship with it because, obviously.

From a Vykker Designer named Costello who has a crew dedicated to working overtime on Pelvis' orders

The Intern duo:

I dont have a name decided for the fem presenting one atm, Karen was a joke. I picture her being high strung like the stereotype. thanks to your ask though I'm now heavily leaning on calling her that lmao. For simplicities sake I'm calling her bf Kyle for rn.

Here is what I have thus far:

•Karen and Kyle are in a dysfunctionally loving relationship

~to the horror of others, including their own kind, they sometimes kiss in public

~Kyle is a masochist/ sadist who performs acts of strength and torment to win her affections

~she loves it when he does this, its apparently standard flirting for their species

~everyone else runs away in terror, if the couple have an argument, no one talks to/ hangs out with Kyle

•Karen is abnormally compassionate to the downtrodden members of her species

~I headcanon that Interns do not traditionally believe in rehab for crime/ criminality. The ones at Vykkers Labs were sold into slavery to get rid of them

~Karen may be a jerk to other races of oddworld (typical for her kind) but she does believe in rehabilitative justice and detests the slave trade

•Karen was born in the intern home country fantastically rich

~her compassion lead her to saving Kyle, and making a severe dent in the slave trade

~it also made her a bunch of enemies, her bf thwarted an assassination attempt

~she fled to Clakker territory with a small group of followers, she continues her work of freeing and rehabbing her kind

•she dreams of building a new intern only city

~The Clakkers would be mortified by this if they knew it was happening in their backyard

~interns hunt other species for sport and they like fried chicken

~needless to say, the Clakkers who investigate never make it back
